    Shipping problems

Okay, so I bought a shotgun from out of state and it was a great deal. The guy I bought it from takes it to Fed Ex and they tell him it will cost $540.53 to ship it! What's up with that??? Any suggestions on what to do now?

Long guns don't have to be shipped overnight. I wonder if you can ship a long gun through usps.

Ask the seller the dimensions and weight of the box, and zip code it's coming from. you should be able to figure out an estimate.

Well, I kind of guessed at the dimensions and weight of 20# (which I know is way too much) and UPS quoted $31.00 ground and $130.00 next day air. The post office comes to $35.00 for 3 day and $86.00 for express mail and Fed Ex said $36.00 for ground. Something is definitely wrong!

No, I bought it shipping included. I think Fed Ex is just being screwy or something? Maybe the person at the counter doesn't know what they're doing and are treating it like a handgun or dangerous material, I dunno... Anyway, he says he's going to another shipper, either UPS or USPS.

Way wrong. This can go UPS or Fed Ex ground or USPS. Your estimates sound right. Even if he is mistakenly specifying next day air, it sounds wrong.

Stuck it in the UPS calculator and 20 lb in a long box from NY to CA Next day air (which you don't need) is about $160 with insurance.

Maybe he didn't get the money for the firearm he wanted and is trying to gouge some more in the shipping.

I totally agree with you. I really think that the Fed Ex counter person just really screwed up. If I were there, I sure would have raised the roof in the place!

I would have thought that too except he is going to ship it with someone else. Only time will tell, I guess! I'm definitely not stupid enough to pay over $500.00 shipping! Hell, at the most, I thought it may run 50 bucks, but have heard it runs around 25.

My Perazzi MX8 was shipped overnight from Tennessee to Sacramento and it only cost $150.00.

That guy is full of crap!

I shipped a Ruger Mini-30 from CA to CO Priority Overnight Fed-Ex and I think
                          it came to around $65.

Tell him you will send him the shipping label. Go to UPS or Fedex online and pay for the shipping and insurance and email the label to him. All he has to do is print, slap it on the box and take to the shipping counter.

I guess I just may have to. The problem is that I bought it shipping included.
