Limp wrist. The slide is not fully moving to the rear. Get ahold of that gun and squeeze it. Do not just let the gun "rest" in your grip.
When you limp wrist the slide does not move fully to the rear. It will pull and eject the spent casing, usually just outside of the gun and the slide is pulling the new round by the top of the case rather than behind the case.
Try squeezing that gun like your trying to get water out of it. Not all handguns but a lot of them will do this, especially the light weight guns. You need to control the frame so the slide can do its work.
Barring any factory mistake with the spring and guide rod, or a bad batch of ammo this is more than likely your issue. I have fired light loaded rounds out of my 17 with no issues so I'm hesitant to go the ammo route but it is possible.
Also, make sure you do not have your thumb on the slide.Originally posted by superhondaz50I should note, I have a hookup..., just trying to determine the cost to put it in.Originally posted by beerman...He comes out while I'm at work to **** the wife..I shall name him Sancho.Comment

Thanks for the thorough explanation. Limp wrist sounds is describing it well.

I would try a different ammo, perhaps something a little more NATO or +P rated. A G17 is a tank, but when new can be a bit tight and cheap Fiocchi ammo may be a little too mild to fully cycle and eject the spent cases (but I agree that limp wristing is the likely candidate due to ‘new gun + new shooter’).
I do know that people complain of the neutered 10 round magazines causing jamming, and you could also try the Magpul 10 round magazines for the G17, they are more like a G26 magazine (staggered) but with a thick bottom extender to fit the full sized frame.Originally posted by ysr_racerPlease don't bring logic and reason into an interwebs discussion

Lock your wrists and elbows tight, see what happens.
Order the barrel to stay straight and try to minimize any lift during recoil.
You almost certainly bought a gen. 3
I bought a tungsten guide rod for my G34 and it helped a lot to keep the barrel more level.
Try the other methods above first, but it might be worth a try.Last edited by Garv; 02-04-2022, 11:19 AM.Originally posted by Kestryll:

Do you want to rule out limp-wristing? Have an experienced shooter run 50 rounds through the gun and see if it malfunctions. Want to rule out the Fiochhi? Try a different brand. I have used six different types of ammo in my G17. Manufacturer doesn't make a difference now. Also, round or cartridge is correct terminology. A bullet is the part of the round that comes out of the muzzle.
My G17 was a piece of crap for the first year I had it. So bad it malfunctioned 44 times with the first 676 rounds. I sent it to Glock, and since I got it back it hasn't malfunctioned once in 450 rounds. Hopefully your problem has a simple solution.Comment

Let the range officer shoot it and see if it jams on him.Comment

What Gen 17 did you have? What did Glock replace? The return slip should have had details, just curious [emoji106] On my Glock 21 they machined the slide because the extractor parts had changed. They literally replaced all the small parts and rebuilt it. A new gun when I got it back [emoji41]

Darn crappy California 10 round mags, Glocks aren’t made to run with them. You never hear of Glocks jamming in free states when using the proper mags.
Especially with the 10 round mags use either or 124/147 grain ammo. 115 with 10 round mags are a bad combo.Im a warmonger baby, I got blood in my eyes and I'm looking at you.Comment
