    My Gun Store Experience

So......I wanted to get a 1911, nothing fancy just a cheap durable 1911 I can shoot the piss out of, know what I mean? I settle on RIA, the price isn't bad and they're in good supply, I goto my local GS, guy quotes me about $350 over the price I know I can get it for, no problem, everyone has to make a profit, if they don't the food chain doesn't work, I have no problem with anyone making a fair profit off me. I tell the guy well I can get it from so and so about $350 cheaper, he says ok I'll match it, done deal. A couple weeks later I goto pick it up, I don't need a demo, I've owned quite a few 1911's but the guy insists on popping out the mag and reinserting it, as he does this he says "damn, these factory mags never fit right" and feigns struggling to get the mag back into the pistol, then he reaches behind himself and pulls 2 Ed Browns off the shelf at $40 bucks a pop slaps them on the counter and says "you need some magazines that fit!", I'm totally silent, I'm just staring at the guy thinking I'm must have somehow given him the impression I'm a square from Delaware with rube tattooed on my forehead. Apparently he took my silence as a green light because his next move was to say/shout "you need some ammo!!" guy grabs 3 boxes of Hornady at $50 a box (I was surprised he had it) and slaps it down next to the Ed Brown mags, at this point I'm kind of smiling a little bit, I'm sure he would have tried to sell me a $40 cable lock if I hadn't brought my own, he starts to ring all this crap up and I politely told him I'm good with the factory mag and I don't need ammo, he gives me a look like , he says "well at least get the mags that factory mag is crap", I say no thanks I'm good can we wrap it up and give me a copy of my dros please, guy starts shaking head "well..... ok then, ok then". I would have gotten mad if the whole set up wasn't so ****ing funny, I wonder how many people actually go along with that and get force fed high dollar mags and ammo? Anyways, that's the story, just thought I'd share

I like 1911s too but all I see after that is a wall of text.

    Thank you.

I won't do that to the guy, he's trying to make a living, I don't appreciate the tactics but I understand where he's coming from

The gun store experience is for people that don't know what they want. If you know just find someone local that will do the transfer at a reasonable fixed price.

You will always find a better deal online and even after shipping it should be cheaper.
