Ammo prices?

Don't know how much your LGS charges for ammo transfer, but some are reasonable at 1 dollar background check + $10 per 1000 rounds. If you buy bulk ammo with free shipping, you pay online price + CA sales tax + 1.1 cent/round.I would do that, but here's why I don't:
One LGS nearby will not do ammo transfers because he does not have the storage space. I know this for a fact: he's not BSing.
The other LGS in town charges too much for a transfer. I actually save money (at this point) by buying from Big-5.
The LGS prices are higher than Big-5.
'Tis what it 'tis, I suppose.

Supply chain problem is not just ocean shipments sitting off the west coast harbors. It is taking 2 weeks to get a truck shipment from San Diego to Portland or Boise that used to take 2 days. FedEx "overnight" air shipments are not happening. Shippers tell us they don't have enough drivers.Comment

Good lord, $29/50? Bass Pro in Rocklin had boxes of 50 Herter's 9mm for $16.99 a while back. I held my nose and bought some, just to have a few extra boxes on hand due to supply uncertainty.Comment

That's a hard pass price.
$17/50rd Federal in stock, direct ship to your door with 03/COE
Federal Champion 9mm Luger 115 Grain FMJ at Target Sports USA with free shipping available. Enjoy deals on 9mm Luger ammo for sale online.|^||^|
And I still am not buying even at that price. I still have nearly 10k rounds of premium brand stuff to burn through before I need to buy 9mm again, I can go many many many years and just wait for things to cool off. My average cost was about $9/box landed.
Buy it cheap and stack it deep - I learned that during the post-Sandyhook drought.Last edited by SkyHawk; 01-14-2022, 12:41 PM.Comment

Herters? Is that price for steel case? Just to give you a idea I remember buying 9mm for $10/11 a box at Walmart. I also remember people saying naw I don’t reload 9mm it’s cheap ammo. I just read that in some cases shipping a container from China is costing $20,000 dollars for a 40 foot container. Prior a container was $1500-$4000 depending on size. So say a 40 foot container used to be $4000….now it’s $20,000…….this adds to cost of items. Inflation is something felt by everyone rich or poor.
