Founders on why citsens must be armed

When our Constitutional Republic was formed, those who witnessed the tyranny of Royal Blood knew there was only one way to prevent, monarchies, oligarchy's ,dictatorships and democracy from tyranny those seeking power always gravitate towards .
They left us with a perfect system and added comments for future generations to learn from.
Here are a few quotes and friends feel free to add others that are applicable to preserving and furthering the liberties handed us as a result of being an American.

Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…. The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”
    – Patrick Henry, Speech to the Virginia Ratifying Convention, June 5, 1778

The Constitution of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed.”
    – Thomas Jefferson, letter to to John Cartwright, 5 June 1824

we have had 13. states independant 11. years. there has been one rebellion. that comes to one rebellion in a century & a half for each state. what country before ever existed a century & half without a rebellion? & what country can preserve it's liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? let them take arms. the remedy is to set them right as to facts, pardon & pacify them. what signify a few lives lost in a century or two? the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots & tyrants. it is it's natural manure.

    Thomas Jefferson to William Smith
I will stand for truth even if I stand alone.

The last time I had faith in the News was when it was with Huey Lewis.

I often marvel at the clarity of thought, and pure intelligence of the Founders.
It's both amazing and frightening that the left doesn't recognize the brilliance of Declaration and US Constitution. The best country in the world, and they feel the need to nit-pick and screw with it.
There are some people that it's just not worth engaging.

It's a muzzle BRAKE, not a muzzle break. Or is your muzzle tired?

Mike the power brokers do understand the brilliance and love of Individual liberty the founders cherished and put into law.
That's why No school public or private will honor, discuss or teach the Declaration or Bill of Rights .

Its why we have 4th of July as opposed to Independence Day,its why April19 is not known or celebrated and of course its why the elimination of God or a supreme being is mocked ,ridiculed and or outlawed in many communist country's.
It's also why the same can be said about USA democrats and their 3rd party allies .

"A free people ought not only to be armed, but disciplined; to which end a uniform and well-digested plan is requisite; and their safety and interest require that they should promote such manufactories as tend to render them independent on others for essential, particularly for military, supplies.”
-John Adams, speech to US Congress January 8, 1790

Notice today an occupying force is suing manufactures instead of promoting as President Adams advised .

The performers Penn & Teller have a 1-minute video that sums it up so beautifully that even a person who couldn't read or knew nothing about our early American history could clearly understand.
              * They do say the f word, one time at the very end, so none of your young kids should watch this link but Everyone else should...

And if you watch closely it's even like Teller who never says a word swears at the same time.

Words had different meanings back then. "Regulated" meant "prepared".

Thanx for posting this althoughI believe he got few things wrong.
1st off we did not fight a militia for 2 years. We fought a standing army for 8 years.
2nd a standing army is not a militia as he says it is .
Except for those errors the rest is spot on. Thanx for sharing !

Ages 16 to 60 at that time were all considered to be the militia. They were called up for days, weeks or months at a time. Think a local group to bolster the Army when in your area. We also had a Continental Army with year + enlistments who followed the war from colony to colony.
A Minuteman was a rapid response militia member. He carried his rifle, powder and a go bag with him at all times so he could respond to a local threat in a minute without returning home for his gear.

The militias go back to the earliest days of the colonies. About 37 states today have an authorized militia. Only two in the world are older the Swiss Guard from the 1200s and the Honorable Artillery Company of London 1538.

This was our original West Point and is still active today.
The Ancient and Honorable Artillery Company of Massachusetts is the oldest chartered military organization in the western hemisphere. Its charter was granted in March 1638 by the Great and General Court of Massachusetts Bay and signed by Governor John Winthrop. The Company was given a charter by the Great and General Court as a volunteer militia company that would train on a regular basis to increase the readiness and military skills of the members. Its inherent mission was to prepare its members to serve as officers in the enrolled militia companies.

They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
