A perfect example of why I asked the original question:
My wife and I were going to a range we had never been to before. I called to ask their masking policy. Over the phone I was told that it was mandatory to wear a mask in the lobby and all common areas but it could be removed once you were in your shooting lane.
We weren't thrilled with the idea but we had singed up for a class back in early December that was being held at this range. So we decided to go and because we had been looking forward to this class for a month we'd suck it up (literally) and put on a mask if an employee demanded it.
When we got there we saw many people going in with masks on. We went in maskless. Nobody said anything or gave us weird looks. We walked all over the place with no mask without any issues.
This is why I asked. Sometimes a business has a stated policy that differs from what they do in actual practice.
BTW, 3 of the other 4 students wore masks, 2 of the instructors didn't and the 3rd instructor only did so outside the classroom.
