Yes. Get an AUG if you can. I regret not picking up one years ago when I came across a reasonably priced one, along with an FN FS2000.

I passed on buying an AUG many moons ago. Instead I bought my FN FNC Paratrooper Model. I had shot my friends AUG several times, but at $459.00, new, I couldn't pass up the FN FNC.

They are shorter than an AR
        Easily field stripped
        Well balanced
        Take AR mags
        But
The fin is less than ideal
        No fore grip/forearm
        Trigger sucks
The last two can be mitigated if you spend more money.

If you want something different, how about an IWI Galil Ace pistol/rifle in 7.62x39. I really enjoy shooting my rifle and burning up cheap 7.62x39 that I bought years ago.

I have Aug, fs2000, x95 and the new kid on the block MDRx. Steyr Aug has very good ergonomic, accuracy and it just felt Right. X95 is close behind due to even better ergonomic and modularity. You get an Aug because you want an Aug, otherwise there are better guns: Sig PE90, Galil Ace etc

It's really sad to see this legend is sick with MS.

You can't go wrong getting the AUG. I got the AUG because it's the rifle I have always wanted as a kid from Die Hard.

The look and feel of the AUG is both classic and unique. It's instantly recognizable and still shoots well compared to its modern contemporaries.

I have both the X95 and AUG, and I shoot the AUG way more than my X95. Regarding the heavy AUG trigger, you can remedy it to manageable levels with the Ratworx sear.

been a month and nobody giving you motivation to get 1? Theres 2 versions, NATO is right hand ejection only but you can get a case deflector for it if you want to shoot on your left. The standard version has both ejection ports. you just need to buy the left hand lug bolt if your a lefty. What are you waiting on? GO BUY IT, grip fin it and get a barrel shroud extension for commiepliance.

I was on the fence with the Aug and Tavor x95 but I ended up buying the tavor x95 instead only because it had more to offer from the rails system to trigger and easy take down and a number of other things plus not having a vertical fore grip on the Aug made it kind of a turn off in California configuration.

I have an Aug in standard configuration with a left hand bolt as well as a ratworx trigger. It’s a phenomenal rifle and very reliable. The one downside for me is I’m not familiar enough with the mag changes and struggle with quick changing.
