Do Hi Point C9s Really Jam?

I'm curious regarding the Hi Point C9s. Do these really jam every few rounds as many of us probably read online, or do they function pretty well?

I had one and had no problems with it. It's a little unwieldy, and heavy up top, but was very accurate and reliable. I traded it because I thought I had too many 9mm handguns. (I was young and naive then.)

        Mine is FINE :-)

I've only taken it out 3x (maybe 50 rounds total)... Shot fine !
Bought it from the original owner... He was unhappy with it... His Dad was of the opinion that the problem was "grip" (limp wrist ???). Anyway... Works OK for me...

Every one I've ever shot was very reliable and accurate. Yes it's cave man blow back and heavier than what most shooters are used to. It's no 1911, but very good all around guns.

If anyone wanted a good basic handgun for HD I would not wave them off from getting one or a couple.

Remember that girl in high school that was totally cool and fun to hang out with? She was no beauty queen but was equally down with knocking back a few beers or some shenanigans under the pier?

In my experience that's the best way to describe a HiPoint.

I had a HiPoint carbine that was reliable and accurate and brand new cost half as much or better than any other option in .45acp. No, it wasn't the sexiest gun to have at the range and yeah some ribbing went along with it, but it sure was fun to shoot.

I regrettably sold it after a couple of years.

it is possible that is nearly always the magazines fault a new spring generally fixes the problem

its a strange pistol it doesnt seem to follow any of the conventions of a "normal" automatic pistol

first off there are no slide rails the slide rides on the barrel and the little rear nub alone

second there is no ejector after if fires the slide is flung back and the firing pin hits the "little nub" and the firing pin ejects the case this requires having an extra long firing pin which can become bent (just a possible gllitch)

third the slide is made of a zinc alloy which is adequatly strong but fairly soft and is coated with coating that is not so great this is not an issue but for one problem the bottom of the slide where it rides over the next cartridge becomes eroded over time because the case mouth and rim scrapes against it (i don't know how many rounds it would take to eventually intrude on the firing pin channel but it will survive at least 500 rounds)

fourth the grips are slippery and sit very low if you compare it to any other normal pistol there is a bit more room for your thumb and web when i hold it like i would say a glock the safety notch on the slide abrades against my rear thumb knuckle

Mine has never jammed over a several thousand round count, and it's usually dirty.

It also point-shoots very accurately with the barrel firmly attached to the frame, but the plastic rear "sight" is not great for consistent aiming at any real distance.

I have never seen anyone saying that. I constantly see people saying how ugly they are and how good they work.

                      Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

IIRC they still have a VERY liberal forever warranty? Covered wear and tear too.

I have fired a friends c9 and it seemed to work fine. Could hit things felt cheap ,ugly etc but functional. However i know of someone who had a high point carbine that wouldn't run new out of the box and had to be sent back and repaired. The warranty sevice was supposedly seamless.
