CA gun buying rule? Can you buy one handgun and one shotgun at the same time?

Are you allowed to purchase a handgun and shotgun together at the same time on the same day or do you have to wait a month?

You can buy as many shotguns as you can afford at one time.

Has been answered. The 30-day restriction kicks in on handguns and semiauto centerfire rifles. Only one of those every 30 days. So, either of those with unlimited shotguns or rimfire rifles.

Are stripped lowers an "other" now and don't count on the one in 30 or are they still long guns and thus count?

stripped lowers unfortunately count towards your 1 in 30.

Funny, as I just put this question to Rifle gear last week, and was told that stripped lowers do not count in the 1 in 30. According to them, you can buy a hand gun either right then or come back later and buy 1 or more stripped lowers without restriction. Interesting...

One firearm per 30 days, except if you have a valid hunting license in which case you can buy one handgun and more than one long gun all at the same time.

This is one of many reasons why I recommend getting your hunting license.

Currently, they are allowing people to take the hunter ed course and test 100% on-line with no in-person practical test. It’s cheap, you can’t fail. It does take a few hours but you can stop and restart at your preference.

i just called a gun shop and they said you can only buy a handgun and shotgun on the same day if the shotgun is a pump. Not a semi-auto shotgun.

Not sure where you're getting your information from, but you should look to other places from now on.

From dealer inventory you may buy one handgun or one semi-auto centerfire rifle every 30 twenty-four hour periods.

You may buy one handgun or one semi-auto centerfire rifle and as many bolt action rifles, lever action rifles, pump action rifles, any style shotguns and any style rimfire rifles. And, yes you may also buy as many stripped lowers as you would like.

As before PPT are exempt from the 1 in 30 rule.
                        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

                          Here's the law:
                          27535.

                          (a) A person shall not make an application to purchase more than one

                          handgun or

                          semiautomatic centerfire rifle

within any 30-day period. This subdivision does not authorize a person to make an application to purchase both a handgun and semiautomatic centerfire rifle within the same 30-day period.
No mention of any kind of shotgun; apparently CA-DOJ is trying to convince FFLs that shotguns are covered, but there is ZERO Penal Code support for that assertion.
