Wow, now i am really feeling old.

1977 picked up my first rifle a colt sp1 at Western Surplus in Hawthorne, cost was around 299.00 out the door. Few years later a H&K 91 at B&B sales for 389.00. The looks i got when i would go fishing in the sierras with those two in the gun rack on my 1984 Datsun Pickup

All those fun toys, AUGS, FL FAL's, HK 91,-93,-94... PolyTech Legends..

Those were the fun days, shooting up in the hills of Valencia which are now all covered with houses.

    Oh Well

I remember in the 80s walking into a pawn shop and Dad buying a used 10/22 for me, cash and carry.

I remember going to buy .22 shells by myself at the local hardware store after I'd gathered enough stray golf balls and resold them to the range to pay for them.

I remember when shooting a BB gun in your suburban back yard was not illegal.

I remember cops showing up while we were out shooting in rural areas alone as young teens...and not worrying about going to jail.

I remember the San Jose show being so big I could barely walk the whole thing, but Dad determined to find a new gun made of PLASTIC he just had to check out.

I remember seeing a new Delta Elite and thinking it was the coolest looking pistol I'd ever seen. (and if you have one for sale/trade, PM me)

And of course, dreaming of the day I had enough money to buy an AR...a day that took a long time to come because of something I couldn't believe happened in my "free" America while I was in college.

I was born in '80...About the only thing I remember as a kid about guns was that there was always a shotgun in the closet in my room (it's still there actually, but it's not my room anymore), and I knew not to mess with it, and going to look at guns with my dad at Tri-City Sporting Goods in Irvington. He took me to the range when I was really little but I don't remember, just have seen pics.

I was born in 84 so the old o' days passed me before my parents ever met.

But my great-grandpa used to tell me of how he walked into a Sears in Ohio to shop for a screen door and walked out with a couple of surplus Colt 1911s for sale, and get this, for 15 bucks a pop!!! seems like after the war they were everywhere and people were trading them for beer...

If you remember those days 1st hand, you should be embarrassed for saying that.

I can't take anyone seriously when I hear/see them use adolescent/gangsta slang. Sorry.

Oh cmon.... even you guys had slang in the 80s.... Hepcat (isn't even a word anymore). Many slang words used through american history are bastardizations of 1930s slang words. Same goes for the 80s slang.

"totally" "total" "bogus" "Dude!" "Gnarley" "Brill"(short for brilliant) "Stellar" "airhead" "Oh thats bad!"(which actually meant good ) "Butt-Ugly"

                      "Bogart" The word "COOL" "Cheesy"

The words "DICK" and "COCK" are actually used respectively each decade. One word was always more dominant each decade.

In the 60s... people started using the word "MAN!" like "aww man that sucks"

And each new generation shunned the next generations slang speak. Same goes for music... each generation shunned the next generations music.
