Ah the 80's....KnightRider and the A-Team ruled.

Man I miss the big Pomona show. They used to advertise "8 miles of table"....Boy they weren't kidding and no Beanie baby to be seen.

I miss haggeling with the dealers because I thought paying over $20 bucks for the AK drums was a rip off. SKS's were $90 bucks and AK's/Maks were $239.

AR's, Galils, FAL were everywhere. But alas, I was still in High School and as they say.."Caviar tastes but a Pizza Wallet".

Thank God I stocked up on cheap plentiful mags and receivers when I could.

It sucked back then when minimum wage was $3.15 an hour.

I wasn't alive back then, but still, I'm depressed now.

I'm still kicking myself for not getting into AKs a year earlier. Just last year 7.62x39 was $90/1000, not $150/1000!

Same here... my Grandpa told me to buy mags even if I didn't own the guns yet...he was right!!!

He told me guns are worthless without mags and bullets, so I bought those whenever I had $$$ when I was younger.

Ahhhh.. yes.. 1981... when I could legaly buy my first handgun... but lets talk about 1985... when HK-91's were $450 and REAL FN Heavy Barrels were $550.

I remember going to the great western show in 1976 but as I remember it wasn't in Pomona it was at a smaller building right off the I5 freeway Dad bought me a FN FAL Paratrooper it looks a lot like the 50.63 that I have but it was made a lot earlier and it has a type 1 receiver not a type 3 like the 50.63 has.

It was imported in 1963 or there abouts And I still have the serial # of that one in the safe. While its a Real FN FAL its in storage OOS. Waiting for me to either move there or see if the California laws change.

I graduated high school in '83 and started buying guns as soon as I was legal to do so. Wish I knew then what I know now!! I remember National Gun Sales and their wall of assault rifles as well as the Great Western Gun Shows at the fairgrounds....still haven't been to any since the last one.

Ahh, 1981. I was living in Izmir Turkey and everyone had machine guns on every corner. Of course they were Turk soliders enforcing a curfew.

Funny how fast the gun laws ahve changed and highway 24 hasnt changed a bit, I dont think its been repaved except after the tanker blew up inside.

I'm another 80's child... I was barely crawling in '81. But I do remember some of the awsome toys that I had. I had the Uzi water machine pistol and a water M-16, with removable magazine (at batteries). I remember a toy bolt gun that I had that even had a spring-loaded bullet attached to the bolt, so when you open it, it looked like you had a bullet in the action. I had a toy side-by-side shotgun that looked very real. It had snap-cap-like shells that you culd load a cap into and fire. It didn't get anymore real than that to a little tyke! And I do recall the Pomona shows with my pop. I didn't know mutch about anything I saw at the time, but I loved it. That's when I decided that the M-16 / AR-15 was the coolest thing ever!

Ug. 1981. Boot camp. Great Lakes RTC. Marching with de-milled M-14s through snow and ice in the dead of winter (thank God I was from Chicago!). Boy, was that fun!

1981 I was a sophmore at concord high. The good old days were in my early 20s when I got an FFL and had firearms delivered to my door like pizza.

I owned a Commodore 64. Loved it. I bet I would be the reigning M.U.L.E. and Archon, Calguns champion.
