    Featureless AR Grip

In building a featureless AR style rifle are the "Shark Fin" grip attachments legal and will they pass DOJ scrutiny. I have seen some Fin Manufactures stating that their Fins adhere to the calif specifications but are not a legal “Featureless “item…. Is there a list of Grips that will pass the DOJ test?

I use a Sparrow Dynamics grip for my only featureless rifle.

DOJ will not specify what brand is legal. They only will give a definition as to what is illegal.

We've been shooting featureless in CA for years. Here's our favorite grips that shoot great, look semi-normal, and will keep your AR & AK legal.

The high rear grip ones may require both an extended mag release and ambi safety.

I just use the strike cheap fins and either don't use the safety or get an ambi. None of my friends have asked for ambi safeties but I have them on my builds.

I just went and got a Thordsen stock . It’s pricey, but is more like a regular rifle stock. I found it easier to operate and deal with than fin grips or high grips like the sparrow.

I have the sparrow dynamics grip and the resurgent arms grips both are nice and better than the fin style grips in my opinion.

                Same.
I dreamed of owning a (insert off roster gun here)...

Oh yeah....then the earth splits open with me on one side and the (off roster gun) on the other. Then appeared a large red-glowing pit with gavin newscum, diane frankenstein and governor "brown the drain" at the bottom of it, waving their pitchforks at me.

                  There is no DOJ test.

There is no list of DOJ approved items.
DOJ does NOT give guidance on what is legal.
DOJ only states what is illegal per the laws.

The laws define what is illegal.
Everything that does not meet the definition of "illegal" is therefore legal.

The last thing anyone needs is a list of what is legal because then it becomes exclusionary and anything not on the list becomes illegal.

How can people not understand this basic concept - really. Its like the mother may I of guns around here sometimes, people want handholding and to be told exactly which model and brand of something to buy to stay legal.

That is how we got the Roster, the AW list and if it keeps going you won't be able to get anything.

How laws work and their effect on rights and freedoms used to be taught in school, what happened? If gun owners don't even take the time to understand some basic things no wonder things are the way they are.

Next, prove you're innocent because people embrace being told exactly what they can do and everything else becomes illegal. We are all very close to falling into that hole.

Don't worry, it will never pass...How in the hell did that pass?

Think past your gun, it's the last resort, the first is your brain.

Defense is a losing proposition when time is on the side of the opponent. In the history of humanity, no defense has ever won against an enemy with time on their side.

Agreed. I only use fin grips for non AR firearms.
