Portable Target Frame Question

I have made bases out of pvc but used 1x2 for the uprights. You can fill the base with sand or gravel.

Pvc works for me, too. Square base, couple Ts going vertical about 18”, 2x2 lumber inside the T brings it up to about 6’, cardboard and targets between 2x2s. Can fill with sand or dirt or use sandbags if need be. Whole thing breaks down into a duffel.

Another vote for PVC. Here's a pic of the one I made. It disassembles in 3 pieces easily and lays flat in the back of my truck. The base is approximately 30" square and it's about 70" tall. The base is glued together but the uprights and back support brace are not so the fittings and short pieces of pipe can be easily replaced if broken. The 2x4s are clamped in place and help to keep it sturdy. Sorry for the poor picture, it was clipped from a video I took and not too clear.

You could scrounge up a used bed frame, and use the angle iron for a base, just drill holes in the ends for stakes. Weld a couple square tubes, sized to fit a wood 2x2.

Here are some stands I built for our club to hold walls for our matches.
The base is 2" wide flat bar, 3/8" thick,24" long. It's made to take 2x2" lumber. The square tubing is 6" long. Holes are drilled in the base for staking down.
If you're using it in windy conditions, I would use a 36" piece of flat bar for a bigger footprint and stake everything down.

The cylinders are for putting the leg of another wall in, if we're putting two walls together we can use three stands instead of four. It's also good for making angled wall arrays or corners.

So this was my solution, Use PVC, yes that's right.

3" for the ground portion (2 complete feet sections, with tee, & reducer to 1", & 1" + 1" fittings for everything else.

Do not glue it together (friction fit) as sooner or later, you or someone else is going to blast a piece off. But no worries, just cut another piece, or fitting, bingo done.

That said all my pieces fit into one of those folding chair bags I can hang if I want, 6 panels (cardboard). I just have disposable card board panels for openings in the PVC frame, panel ties are wire, I store in one of the PVC sections.

Takes up next to no room, in garage or vehicle, go's together in a snap.

A couple sand bags, or just uncap the feet (stand) & fill with what ever you find sitting around at the range for ballast. (or a couple rocks on the feet, & done)

Huffing this out to a 100yds is nothing, your gonna like that.

Been using mine for 5 yrs now, replaced 6 pieces so far, no biggie....

So where did you end up OP? I shoot at some spots in between Dayton and Stagecoach and it can get a bit brezy.
