Online prices for 9mm are at .40 cpr and .223/5.56 are still around .60-.70 cpr.

Lets hold the line and if possible, hold off on buying until the prices are a bit more reasonable (1.5x pre-covid pricing) as opposed to the 2x price we are seeing now.
Prices will be a long time coming to get back to pre covid. Just not gonna happen with min wage at $15 plus. The prices may go 5/19% lower than now but you’re not gonna see 9mm for $10 a box for a long time.
Most likely what’s gonna happen is supply will start to catch up and demand will drop off. Because unless you fire the ammo most people don’t need to keep buying ammo every two weeks. So as people fall out of the buying market th supply will increase while demand drops. Look at lumber…the same will happen to ammo.
I’ve sold ammo for 50 cents a round for small 7.62-223/30 cal to close to a buck a round for bigger stuff 7mm 30/06 270 ( stuff I had leftover from rifles I owned but sold and never sold the ammo.

I hear you, but it is going to be a while before I can even look into this. First need to figure out space for another safe.

I get online ads for 'sales' and the prices have been coming down; but, they are still sufficiently over what they used to be that, when coupled with the 'hassle' of now having to go through an FFL... (I just don't think it's the Government's business to know, so I'm still 'adjusting' and haven't bought all that much since the law went into effect. Let's just say there was a reason I was laying in supplies before it did.)

Locally, it's hit and miss. Some still seem to think it's last year and you can pay it or suffer without. Some have brought a few prices down, a bit, but the prices tend to vary depending on how much they have and/or how 'popular' it's been recently. All in all, however, the prices just aren't where I'm comfortable paying that much, still and the availability is, at best, spotty.

Reloading components are also hit and miss, not to mention quite a bit more expensive, in most cases, than they were pre-shortage. I'm sitting pretty good on primers. I'm good on a number of calibers in terms of bullets; but, wish I were 'better' in the case of some. Powder is... eh... could be noticeably 'better.' Typically, by the time I get to the shops, they've sold out. I've picked up a few components, here and there, which weren't too horribly marked up beyond what they were; but, I find myself still hoping they'll come down a bit more and become more readily available.

My local has some odds and ends on the shelf but what little they have of mainstream calibers is too expensive.
I'll be reloading again shortly. I have access to a stash of primers, brass and bullets. I just need to track down some W296 and W231.

Can I just ask what specifically you are tracking in each category? I am going to guess "handgun" = 9mm FMJ target ammo, "rifle" is 5.56 [is it M193 or equivalent?] and shotgun is 12 gauge basic 00 Buck. Are those all correct?
My ammoseek.com search criteria was only by type + manufacturer. The results would give me the total number of websites and I'd note the lowest $ per round. I did not track by caliber or types.

It is interesting that Winchester is nearly always the lowest $ per round for handgun, rifle, and shotgun ammo between Remington, Federal, and Winchester. While not completely universal in my tracking chart, it looks like about 90%

12 gauge 00 buck at 36c to 48c? I really doubt it. More like #7.5

If the ammo/component supply is beginning to normalize, then pricing should begin to normalize too - except we're now in an inflationary environment, so the new normal will be > the old normal.

Shelves are starting to have more on them now....Prices are still at .32 for 9, but I did score 45ACP for .50/rnd and .54/rnd for brass case fmj in the last month. Purchase limits are working so I haven't had to be in line before they open to get some. It seems to last a few days at those prices.
