Rubber bullets and pepper balls work just fine for LE, no need for a 20 pound POS

Still waiting for Lasers. No projectiles involved means none of the current legislation covers it.

Handheld Railgun Goes On Sale In U.S.

        Interesting.

The GR-1 Anvil, which uses electricity not gun powder, is capable of accelerating a projectile over 200 feet a second and firing 100 rounds a minute. It's less lethal than traditional firearms.

          I see a few issues:

L.A.-based Arcflash Labs is accepting preorders for the GR-1 Anvil, available online for $3,375.

That includes the 20-pound rifle, a battery pack and a hard carrying case, though ammo and a charger are sold separately.

All of this plus "Though billed as 'the most powerful handheld coilgun ever,' the Anvil's impact is less lethal than traditional firearms

So you have a firearm that is admittedly less powerful than a traditional firearm, weighs 20 pounds PLUS battery, costs over $3k. It sounds more like a fun toy than anything actually usable. Hopefully this is just the prototype and things will get better as tech improves-lighter, stronger, faster?

I responded in the other thread, but it's more problematic than that. 20 pounds, costs about $3400 and the charger is an additional expense, plus it is billed as "less lethal" so it definitely is competing with things like rubber bullets, tear gas, etc.

It sounds more like a "good start" than something actually "ready for primetime".

It's the kind of thing for someone who is very rich and likes being the first kid on the block with the new toy.

The one YouTube person I saw speaking about it said it wasn't powerful, and although you can make your own ammunition from cutting pieces of steel from a hardware store, it's still expensive overall for the performance you get.

But maybe it might be worth something someday, like those very first computers that were expensive and didn't have much power.

Using an advanced capacitor charging system, it can fire up to 20 rounds per minute at full power, or up to 100 rounds per minute at half power.
                        Huh?
