California fails to pass tax hikes on handguns and ammunition

While this bill to add a 10% tax to handguns and 11% tax to rifles was supported by a majority of California's legislators, it failed to gain the two-thirds vote required for new taxes. The tax would have been applied to retailers, but would of course been passed along to consumers via higher prices.

We narrowly dodged a bullet this time. They key is that a few Democrat legislators sided with the minority. Bottom line, keep up the pressure on Democrat legislators and work to get more Republican's in office.
