Davis/Cobra trigger pulls suck. It's easier if you keep your finger nearer the tip of the trigger.

Not sure if an NAA .22LR counts, but I have one and I carry it from time to time when I don't feel like lugging around anything bigger. It serves its purpose.

There is also a 4 shot derringer, the COP 357 derringer. It loads and unloads same as 2 shot derringer.
The recoil not as bad because better grip and more weight.
          I enjoy shooting mine.

have a american derringer and several others, very well built and with the new reduced recoil 38/357 loads very managable...

My BIL has a Bond Arms, what a POS. I did shoot a .410 shotgun shell from it... Ever take a baseball bat and hit a tree when you were a kid?

I appreciate all the valuable reviews. The light caliber model is probably my best option it sounds like, and I didn't know about the options on some models for switching out the barrels. Even if not very practical, I love the novelty aspect. When I first moved to California, I had to purchase a convertible car, and the fun factor disappeared after awhile. (the Derringer is much better and cheaper alternative)

I carry my NAA .22WMR. All stainless. 5 rounds

The Bond Arms is a huge gun that looks like a derringer.

My Uncle Bill had one in ,45 Colt when I was a teenager. It was fun, but the thing would twist in your hand so the barrels were pointing up in the air after each shot. Accuracy was sufficient to hit a person at 10 or 15 feet.

I have shot 2 and even with different loads it isn't any good past 1 foot ! IMO experience, it would be only a contact weapon, or be of value to stop evil intentions. Providing the person did not know its severe limitations.

That said its better than nothing and could prolong ones life under favorable circumstances.

Definitely a very, very, VERY niche weapon.

sounds like this one here that i have in .38 - there is actually a technique to pulling the trigger - much different than a regular trigger squeeze

I had an American Derringer in .45 ACP. It wasn't fun to shoot but it was reliable. The only other reliable derringer I had was a high standard .22mag.

I had a derringer in .38 Special. It was okay to shoot and better than a stick. Before I had a CCW I would pocket carry it.

I've had a couple; one in .38 spl and one in .45 LC. My biggest beef with them was cocking the hammer- you couldn't do it one handed unless you put the top of the barrel against your thigh as leverage since the grip was too small to allow proper purchase on it.
