I've had pretty good service every time I've been in ASC. I did however call in once prior to doing a PPT and I was told almost the same thing. This is more or less what I was told:

"PPT's are a very low priority here, and you will have to pretty much wait around until there are no other customers before we will help you...or go to Turner's thats almost all they do there"

I don't know who it was that I talked to but I took the attitude as "we don't need your business" so they didn't get it. CA Police Equipment handled it all no problem. Also check out Unique Pawn on University, no hassles on multiple transfers.

The guy that Turbo598 was talking about was Mike Haire not the other Mike (the manager).

I have dealt with Mike (the manager), and he has always been helpful to me there, at Turner's, and at SoCalGun. Sorry to hear about the bad CS at ASC even though the issue of PPT may be small to them, business is still business.

in these days, CS should be the main thing that businesses focus on. its sad to see that it isn't true.

i guess they are assuming that since every joe blow is getting guns they can lose customers since another chump will come up behind them.

ASC has the highest prices and worst customer service. Go somewhere else.

Martin Retting is like this, too. Even with the friendlier of the staff. They make you realize just how puny PPT's are in the grand scheme of things. The thing I don't get with this is.....why? Why put up any guff at all when they have to do it. Do they think by being a pain in the ***, that the people wanting to do a PPT will suddenly see the light and each buy a new gun from them? Turners in Redondo is good to deal with on this matter.

How hard would it be to have a FFL Dealer section on the site that lists all FFL dealers and shops, then a feedback rating kind of like a poll for each FFL shop. Option to click good/bad experience and a short comment of what you felt about your visit. This way, if shop owners are on this site, they can look to see what kind of customer feedback they are getting. They can either applaud their staff for a good job, or get ready to go out of business. Also make it easier for CG members to find out what shop will do a PPT without a problem, or shops that specialize in certain fields related to guns. All this without input from the shops, a dealer rating for the people, by the people.

When we get the little ones in the shop that are out of control we shut them down with a promise of a free gift if they behave. We give them a brass/nickel police whistle. We give them their prizes when they're leaving and tell them they can open them after they get into the car. And what kid ISN'T going to cut loose on that whistle as soon as they open it?

We also pass them out to the well behaved youngsters that visit the shop and the kids at the Big Reno Show just for giggles.

I recently did a PPT at ASC. The calgunner I purchased from is a member at the range and knows the people there, so it was a very easy process.

When I went in to pick up the gun it was also pretty seamless, the only issue I had was having to purchase a gun lock but I guess that's a hit or miss prospect depending on where you go. Last PPT I did a few months ago I didn't need to purchase a lock (Wholesale Guns in Santee)

Want to see the best attitude turn to the worst you can imagine in two seconds?

Go into Gun World Burbank and when they ask if they can help you, tell them you would like to do a PPT.

I have gone to 75% of the gun stores in so-cal (estimate) and Gun World gets the worst attitude problems as soon as they know why you are there.

Seriously, it goes something like this:

"Hi guys, what can we do for you today?"

"Yeah, Hi. We are back and this time we need to do a PPT"

"You have to wait at least an hour and a half (no one else in the store) and even then, I don't know if we can get to it. Just wait out of the way."
