The first thing you should do before importing/ordering guns, lowers, etc.

Check with your local favorite FFLs (read go into store if possible) and ask if they can order the item for you. That way there is no qualms about receiving from out of state and no receiving charges.

May FFLs/shops get a special price from manufacturers and distributors. They may be able to get you the item you want at better over all cost.
Try this first before getting involved with ordering yourself and looking for a FFL to receive things for you.

Another vote for Glaser. Fast, efficient and no FUD.

Generally ordering it yourself directly or out of state is going to be cheaper than any Bay Area ffl paying Bay Area rents.

I like UGi a lot also. He had to raise his rates to $100 for first item transfer.

I've seen people think they are slick and getting over doing the ship in thing and after the fees associated sometimes paid same or more as the shop would have gotten the gun for.

Always do your homework. Call around and shop around. Also the cheapest price isn't always the best. Consider wait time and how much you want your favorite local FFL to stay in business.

I'd hate to only have Sportsman's Warehouse and Turner's as my options for buying guns.
