    AR pistol lower maximum OAL

I am wondering if there is a maximum OAL length for an AR pistol. The lower was registered in Califoria as a off roster handgun. If the OAL exceeds 26 inches does it then become a tiltle 1? I have spent hours reading and I have yet to find a definitive answer. I am aware there are both federal and state laws at play but I am more questioning the California laws. Replies appreciated.

I would guess you can turn a pistol into a rifle any time but following all the semi rifle laws in CA
So if you put a 16" barrel it is finally a rifle as CA requires OAL 30". And as a semi you'd have to either run featureless or maglocked.

If you put a stock on anything under 16" then it's an SBR. You can't have them in CA. You can run 26+ ONLY if it was a registered assault rifle, not sure why anyone would register their pistol or if that was possible.

It is my understanding that as it is registered as a pistol. A barrel shorter than 16" can be installed without being classified as an sbr providing it has a mag lock, 10 round mag and no stock. Lower was registered as a pistol the same way an off roster pistol would be (via LEO or someone moving in from out of state PPT).

Under both Federal and CA law if the AR pattern firearm has no stock, a barrel less than 16" and an OAL of less then 26" it is a Title 1 Pistol.

Under Federal law if an AR pattern firearm has no stock, a barrel less than 16" and an OAL greater than 26" it is a Title 1 Other. Which is not to be confused with a Title 2 Any Other Weapon (AOW).

        Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.
