    1-30 rule interstate IFT

With a unexpired FFL 03 and COE, am I exempt from the 1-30 rule when its an off roster pistol and an interstate, intrafamilial transfer?

Yes, exempt even if you don't have 03/COE

See this thread starting at 220 and also see 240

      And 03/COE is always exempt.

Just make sure the FFL processes it correctly as exempt.

I dros'd a g19, then the following day. I attempted DROS the interstate IFT off roster pistol however, it came back rejected due to the 1-30 rule. I am not sure if this makes a difference, but the shop filed the dros as a used gun and under the "30 day exemption" was marked "no"

First the shop told me an ffl 03 and coe did not warrant me any exemptions. Then, after I sent them the bulletin from the DES, they said that exemption only applies to rostered pistol. Lastly, the shop went on how CADOJ is rejecting people in this kind of situation because they can and the shop has a lawsuit filed with them...

How do I make sure the FFL processes the DROS correctly?

By finding a different FFL that knows what they're doing.

You don't list where you are otherwise I'd recommend a better FFL for you.
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

You can't "make" any FFL do anything. Their store, their rules, their whatever period. Unless you want to bark it up to CADOJ, even then they don't do crap anyways. Best is to find a FFL that understand how 03 works entirely and actively understanding CA laws on firearms.

By chance, did you do either or both of those transfers at an FFL inside the City of LA? City has its own 1-in-30 law.

There are some FFLs that know how to process these and some who do not want to bother with them even if you point them in the right direction with a link to the DES bulletin so they can read it themselves.

I had this happen when I came across a Browning Buck Mark last December at Sportsman Warehouse I wanted and I had DROSed my last hand gun 26 days earlier. I have my FFL03 and COE but the manager did not want to run the DROS as exempt even though the counter person knew how to do it. Fortunately they were willing to hold it for me for 4 days (even though it was against store policy). The counter person was a former student of mine so put it away under his name.

When doing these transactions, you need to ask the FFL up front if they will do them. If the answer is no, then find another FFL that knows how to run the transaction and who will do them.

I personally drive 45 minutes to my go-to FFL because he knows how to handle C&R transfers as well as interstate, intrafamilial transfers. He is by appointment only so I do not waste my time standing around.

If you tell us what area you live in, some one might be able to direct you to a FFL that can help you.
Anyone can look around and see the damage to the state and country inflicted by bad politicians.

A vote is clearly much more dangerous than a gun.

Why advocate restrictions on one right (voting) without comparable restrictions on another (self defense) (or, why not say 'Be a U.S. citizen' as the requirement for CCW)?

                    that is correct.

So it seems like the general consensus is to find a shop that knows how to work these type of transfers. Where do you guys recommend. Thanks for the feedback

Here is the bulletin that they can find in DES which tells them how to do it.

                          And 03/COE is always exempt.

Just make sure the FFL processes it correctly as exempt.

Interesting. I was always told by FFLs in sacramento area that interstate IFT is not exempted from 1 per 30 rule .

If you read the law, that's a reasonable conclusion.

But CA-DOJ inspectors are saying different, as noted in the thread Skyhawk links. Are you going to believe your lying eyes, or the word of the folks who can shut your gunstore down with a phone call?
