Working for a dispensary and guns

Dispensaries have armed guards so as long as you do not partake or have a reefer card you should be fine.Comment

CCW as marijuana workerIf this is the wrong forum sorry wasn’t sure where to post it. So I have the offer to be a part time delivery driver for a local weed shop. Mostly out of in board after my normal work and want something to do. I have a ffl 03 and a coe and was wondering if working for a weed shop would impact those or the ability to buy guns. And how does that work on a federal level with taxes. If anyone here has experience with both the input is appreciated
Under Federal laws/regulations...
Being directly employed by a marijuana dispensary makes you a prohibited person that can not legally own or possess firearms/ammunition. [18 USC 922(h)]Last edited by Quiet; 04-20-2021, 8:29 AM.sigpic

My oldest granddaughter has just started working in Northern CA for a marijuana growing and dispensing group my wife tells me. As a former US Army drug suppression officer I don't care that it is legal in California so have disowned her totally now not for just that but as the last straw in a long list of her actions over many years. I have no use for the drug or people associated with it.Comment

Marijuana is not legal - the lack of state law or state enforcement doesn't make it "legal," it just makes it the job of the federal agents alone to enforce the law, if they choose so.
Any federal firearms law will be in direct conflict with anything related to marijuana. Any state firearms law will not be affected by anything related to marijuana unless it's explicitly written into the law, which I don't believe is the case for any law that I can think of. So, technically, you'd be good to go as far as AW or other CA laws are concerned if it weren't for the fact that the primary federal law about possessing firearms in the first place doesn't mix with drugs.
Also, the first "F" in "FFL" is for "Federal," so there is your answer about that part too. A simple rule of thumb: don't touch anything drug-related with a ten foot pole if you're into firearms.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

Thinking from a federal level only, you are using a gun in the conduct of distribution of a controlled substance. It will really only be an issue IF you pull that gun I suspect (pun intended). Once the feds hear about a cartel drug runner pulling his peace, they might find interest in the entire weed operation. And since its probably an all cash business, they would love to get a hold of some asset forfeiture for the general fund!Comment

Delivering Federally illegal drugs is a quick way to loose your right to own or possess firearms.
Being a delivery driver is one of the riskiest jobs in the MJ industry.
Having a Federally issued firearms license and delivering Federally illegal drugs...
Slam dunk. Conviction.Last edited by SVT-40; 04-20-2021, 1:45 PM.Poke'm with a stick!
