Camping at more family orientated camp grounds usually requires a fee. I don't want to give my money to any campsite that doesn't allow me to bring a gun in. Depending on where you're at, you're about a 1/2 hour further drive to places it's okay to have a gun, and the scenery may just be better.

Carrying while camping...

While the hunting/fishing license would probably fly if he was alone and not in a camping area that didn't allow guns, I don't think his situation would pass for this. Although, he could be hunting with other people, it's obvious the main goal is family camping. However, locking the gun up would. Although kinda defeats the purpose if you have to use it. Just keep one of those 3 wheeled combo locks on it so it's relatively easy to get to.Comment

I go camping up in the Bridgeport area regularly. It's national forest and BLM land mostly. The rangers that I've spoken to have told me that I can open carry in the formal campground but the weapon must be unloaded. The campground I go to does not have any "no firearms" signs or rules posted. So I have the S&W in a holster on one side and a speed loader in a holster on the other side. They said that once I leave the formal campground I can open carry loaded as long as it's national forest or BLM.Last edited by rgs1975; 06-12-2009, 11:17 AM.It's too late, it's over.Comment
