P220 Carry and Sig 22lr conversion kit

    Hello CalGuns:

Not sure if this is the right place for this question. So please go easy on me.

Question that is out of my knowledge base.

Does anyone here know if the Sig factory P220 22lr conversion will fit a 220 carry (220 manf. in 2017 off roster) ?

    Thanking you in advance.

When i was looking for conversions for my Glock I saw there were convs for other models. Not sure if yours is there. Advantage Arms and Tactical Solutions. There was another one for 1911s and super accurate but I didn't need one of those.

The p220 conversion should fit a 220 carry. The conversion slide will be slightly longer then the carry version slide. There will be a gap where the dust cover goes, but it will function. Don’t put your finger in the gap while firing or it will pinch you.

All modern forged 45acp p220 slides will fit all modern 45acp p220 frames. The older folded slide models are not compatible with frames designed for forged slides. The 10mm slides and frames are only compatible with other 10mm slides and frames.

          A p226 or p229 conversion will not fit a p220.

Where do you see one in stock ? Sig has been out of them for a while.

            Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

If you have a P226 or P229 with the California magazine disconnect then the conversion won’t fit y less you replace the locking block.

The P220 does not have a version with the mag disconnect, so it should work fine.

The 226 and 220 frame rails are a slightly different width, so a p226 kit won’t fit the p220 at all.

If it is a friend selling to you, just try it first to make sure it fits.

The 220 is an off roster so I should be good to go on the 22lr conversion. Just need to find the right 22 that will work the slide. Was told to use RN Hypersonic (1400fps) 22 for the best results

Friend is not local so I thought to ask the Experts on this forum before I go up to see him.

Also appreciate the 220-226 22lr fitment clarification. I read on the Sig forum that the lower (full frames are the same on a 220-226. So I could use the 22 conversion slide on my 226 also and just need to obtain a 22lr sig mag specific to a 226. I guess that is not the case.

"I just read that other people were not able to push the takedown lever Up on the 22LR conversion."

Sometimes it takes the secret C handshake to install the rimfire kit in the sig:

                    Hold frame in right hand.
Make the letter C with forefinger and thumb of left hand.
Push muzzle towards the hammer with left forefinger, swing takedown lever into position with left thumb.
                    Tire kickers gonna kick,
                    Nose pickers gonna pick
I and others know the real

                        Update:
I ended up buying the Sig 220 to 22lr conversion kit (last year) from my friend who didn’t use the new kit at all. He sold his 220.

I tried it twice and the conversion kit shoots well with no issues at all.

I’ve tried all kind of 22lr range ammo. No issues with mis feeds or misfires.

Thank you for all the helpful comments.

Note. The Sig 22lr conversion made the 220 also fit my 226 frame and I only needed to buy a 22lr magazine specific for the 226 frame conversion.

With the pandemic and comrade newsome. I did not go out shooting last year( maybe once) so I only had a few chances to go range shooting with the 22lr conversion.

One thing I did notice on the 22lr conversion. After the last round being fired, the slide won’t stay open. This will happen on the 220 and also on the 226 when I use the conversion.

Some say the plastic 22lr conversion magazine does not have the shelf to catch the slide when no rounds are in the chamber. IDK?

Others say to check the slide lock on the lower frame. (?)

Just went shooting yesterday and noticed the slide not staying open issue regarding the last round fired for both the 220/226 frame.

                        I’ll play with it today.

Any comment or suggestions are always helpful.

how 'bout put one round in the mag several times and be mindful of not riding on the slide catch lever?

The Sig rimfire kit's don't have a slide lock "lock open" feature. You have to count rounds or get used to the "click " on an empty mag.

I modified a couple of Black Dog Macine .22 mag followers that would hold the slide back after last round fired. But it was a PITA to do in a durable, reliable manner.
