I have not been there in a few years. Maybe someone else will chime in with an answer to that.

I still have not gone to it. Every year I say I will go as a spectator. No way I'm paying for a line spot when I can shoot on my land.

But I'm also planning out an alternative to a smaller version of Big Sandy that will be more times a year. I've combined my land with my friends so now we have 70 acres. We built a dirt bike course and now have 2 ranges. One is the old run and gun course and another is a typical gong range out to 150 yards. I just cleared out a new parking lot that will have a shooting structure on it and spots for 20 shooters because instructors want to rent my land for training. Then I will clear out a vehicle course for driving my friends M16 halftrack with twin 1919s and some other MILsurps. I can't get my friends tank on the land yet. We have to widen a bunch of roads. I've tested the sound issues with loads of tannerite. The closest neighbors cannot hear anything thansk to the mountains behind my land. Since it is very difficult to shoot 50bmg at the ranges here I'm also setting up a 50bmg and larger shooters club that will be good to 2000 yards. I'm hoping in the next 2-3 years this will be a new mecca for MGs and bigger.

The biggest appeal of Big Sandy is the ability to shoot tracers at aerial targets without worry because of the mountain behind. I don't have any belt-feds so I have nothing to shoot there.

The Dillion company will not be going to the Big Sandy shoot, according to a Dillion employee I talked to by phone when ordering parts.

The April KCMGS is cancelled this year. Hopefully it will be available next Oct as it features so many competition events that are available to all who are interested.

I haven't been to big Sandy, but do know some people who are participants and they enjoy it .

$35 is not bad for 3 days but I wish they had a Saturday pass for $15. I'd go for a few hours only from late afternoon and leave after the night shoot. It is also like looking at a museum of toys too. Plus they do have competitions there and allow semi auto in the events. I'd run a match or two. I've been thinking about going to rio solado for a beltfed match.

But $250 is insane per person on the line. If they had a bigger discount or family discount or allowed me to rent my guns there I would go. I could not afford to shoot all three days even in semi auto. No idea how those guys afford it. My buddy has an M134 and he charges $6,000 a minute to shoot it so even a few bursts is burning cash fast.

I could to RC planes on my land. The mountain is high and wide enough. ANd I would only allow 1 shooter to fire at it.

You must live in liberal Phoenix Arizona. Out here you can shoot upto 20mm every day all day. 50 bmg is like shooting 556. Folks have them out every week and weekend.
