    ODD yes.... ILLEGAL ?

Open carry is legal in Georgia, and people can carry a concealed gun with a permit.

    he told the station. >snip<

Police charged Marley with reckless conduct and transferred him to the Fulton County Jail. Jail records show Marley was later also charged with six counts of possession of a firearm or knife and five counts of attempting to commit a felony.
Hey maybe he didn't feel safe in a grocery store unarmed.

Trying to commit a felony? If he only tried and didn't succeed how is that a crime? If i try to drive 70 but only get up to 65 do I get a ticket for trying to speed?

I suspect, pun intended, that during the course of questioning, his motives were discussed. Hence, the charges. If he was locked up simply because he was exercising his rights within the law, he has a substantial pay day coming his way.

But you guys have to understand Atlanta. This is the same place that locked up a good cop after a good shoot because they were afraid of the city burning down. He also has a substantial pay day coming his way as well and if it were me, I would file a federal lawsuit for deprivation of constitutional rights against the mayor, the chief, the State AG, The district attorney, the Sheriff and the supervisors and detectives who were " just following orders" to arrest him because the mayor threatened to fire them all if they did not comply with her orders to arrest a good cop with zero probable cause at all. Corruption at it's finest and not even a wince of trying to hide it.

Yea, that's Atlanta. The same Fulton county that openly and fraudulently changed votes in a presidential election. That Atlanta. Yup.

After this incident, open carry won't be legal much longer I imagine.

Same crap as the kid in MO did. When will they learn?
          Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

That's an interesting argument, and one we've discussed among friends. There are certain laws that address this, attempted murder for instance.

We don't know what he told the police. He might have talked himself into a problem or he was/wasn't a prohibited person. We really need to know the details.

Excellent point. Not sure how I feel on that one. If someone tried to shoot me in the face, but barely missed... I would want the charge to be murder, as that was the intention. Missing is irrelevant.

In this case though, I guess they’d have the burden of proving he intended to commit the felony. Don’t know how they can possibly prove that. But I’m sure they’ll win, as they always do.

                      yes.

cops have given tickets to people who don't break the speed limit but were "racing"

best example is someone doing a burnout from a red light turning green, but then only goto 45mph. that is still an offense. i believe the ticket is for exhibition of speed or something along those lines.

this would also be like if i came up to you yelling "i want to kill you" and tried to stab you with a knife or fire a gun at you but i missed you completely. that is still assault and attempted murder. i don't get absolved of it just cause i missed.

Attempted crime, if proven, is a crime. At no time has it been necessary for you to make a corpse to be convicted of attempted murder, etc.

I've never understood the attempted murder charge. Had the person not failed to kill, it would be murder. But because the victim hanged on by a thread and survived, the charge is downgraded. In my good for nothing opinion, attempted murder = murder.

I'm with you that attempting a crime and failing is no different than had the person succeeded.

On this topic, at what point did the actions of the individual become an attempt at a crime?

Bringing 6 firearms into a Grocery store, donning body armor in the bathroom, and potentially loading those firearms in public are all strange. When in the series of events does the line between legal open carry and attempted murder get crossed?
