I went down that rabbit hole with the TAR-10 version years ago. It's real pretty, but a little heavy. If there is ever a mandatory gun buyback, this sucker is my ticket to standing for a takings lawsuit.

have lpks in sales forum bought to many. I have only seen 1 steel lower in 50 years. That is why my comments about greasing ALuminum.
I just added a lot of lower parts in my sale ad.

I keep picking up parts that I'll need to completely build out the lower as they come on sale unless I'm in a rush. Sometimes it takes a couple of years to get the parts I want in my build. Finished or stripped, lowers hang out in the safe.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...

If I have lowers, LPKs, and uppers, I'm turning them onto guns. Easier storage.

Lowers and LPKs will be turned into complete lowers, again easier storage.

That said, I don't get sto king lowers for no reason. If they're made illegal, they have to be turned in (California requires them to be registered so they can come for them), and I'm not a fan of paying for something and giving it to Uncle Sugar when he comes for it.

Now if you're stacking 80% lowers, that's another story...

You guys keep forgetting about ex post facto, making things illegal after you own them is not in the spirit of our laws, NFA bullsh*t notwithstanding. If they try to tell millions of Americans their guns are now illegal and they have to lose possession of them involuntarily, there's going to be more pushback than the other side is ready for.

To be honest, I don't get stacking lowers whether they're legal or not.

I may keep one for a project, but the logic of having three, five, seven, just to have escapes me.

But far be it from me to tell someone how to spend their own money.

                That's a beautiful rifle.

I'm a big fan of a nicely done wood furniture AR anyways, but that case hardened finish really makes it something else.

Shame it would need a fin to hide that grip.

It's one rifle where a fixed magazine is acceptable. The Hellfighter Mod Kit preserves the looks with reasonable function for 10 round magazines. It's not like this would be someone's go to defense rifle.

Even better is a maglatch which completely hides the mag lock and does not alter the receiver like some other hidden solutions (like the Hogue FF). It is also the absolute fastest to revert to normal ops IMO.

If there is actual war, you're not going to be able to get the parts you need. Hell, you could hardly find parts to buy with nothing more than a buying frenzy.

If you are getting them for $45 out the door, it is a no-brainer. Add one everytime you have to DROS something else.

Plus in CA we have a minimum of $37 fee for background check whether we buy one lower or ten. So do you want to pay $37 per lower as a fee, or $3.70?

And mere talk of a ban sends prices skyrocketing. Same for BCGs etc. These are the currency of speculators.

Plus, whenever good sales come around for rifle kits, if you have a lower you never have to leave your house to end up with a rifle. At least not yet - soon we will have precursor laws, so stock up now folks...

Given the cheap price, prior to the panic, buying a six pack of lowers was no big deal, and prior to 2014 none were registered. I keep a healthy supply of lowers, upper receivers, parts, barrels, etc. that can be used for repairs, replacements or new builds.

I have a bunch of maglatches and they are good for this purpose. I'm not a fan of top loaders, or of the option where you turn your cracked rifle upside down and drop the mag latch block. I prefer featureless, but the TAR-10 is an exception where fixed mag makes sense.

Holy crap, that's cheap. I haven't seen them anywhere near that cheap for the last 6 months at least.

yeah i got caught behind the 8 ball and didnt have any stripped lowers. I have built rifles but with China Joe talkin about a ban, I thought it was prudent to get a few. Unfortunately I paid more than $45/lower but I had no other option and honestly felt lucky to be able to get a handful (more than I probably need).

Now I need to start collecting LPK before the precursor laws are in effect.

You are correct, it has been awhile yes - pre-covid. Which is part of the point I was trying to make: stack them before panic sets in, and you have something that is more valuable when the panic comes.

If national AW ban + window to register were to suddenly happen, like it did in CA in 2000 or 2016, you would see the price of lowers go through the roof overnight.
