Depends on what you want to learn and train.

              Dig a pit at least 50’ x 50’

              The excavated dirt becomes berms

The pit with berms allows you to shoot 360 degrees.

Building a shoot house takes a lot

Having targets set up on all sides allows for a lot of scenarios
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT
              (thanks to Jeff Cooper)

I don't have much of that. I have lots of bolt guns but they're missing either a scope or ammo. I could take a few revolvers, but they would be a waste on a range like that. I don't even have any 10 round mags for my pistols. I bought all my crap before the mag bans.

Can't add to what most guys already said , but overhead from the sun ,large slab for easy brass cleanup , storage shed or 20' sea container, a grill , possibly large water tank and as much steel targets at all distances that you can afford to plasma cut fabricate weld up and install.Oh and I'll pay you Green backs for the privilege of using your fine facility.

Ok, discussed with my brother, looks like we will put up one of those sail type shades overhead, shoot house is out, just not feasible at the moment. Trees, maybe, water is the difficult factor as this is truly dry land, even named the place "Dry Ranch", well the guys are calling it "Tierra Seco" and we ran with it.

Going to look into some of the other stuff, thanks all.

those shade sails will be a great addition.

Might be worth looking into later putting in some 4x4s and making a hard cover.

Trailblazer, you mentioned the grass gets mowed when it gets too tall. Have you thought about what you'll do in case of a fire?

I do see in your pic of the 600 yd range, there is a road on the left, which is a good fire break. You might consider cutting one in on the right, and behind your 600 yd berms to contain any fire.

You might consider having shovels, McLeods, and a couple of bladder style backpumps on hand just in case of a spot fire. You could store these items in a box labeled "Fire Use Only".
