Never. This country is becoming more left, not more logical. While we sit here discussing things, our young children are being honed and shaped into leftist propaganda machines. Then look what our colleges are doing. As we speak they're planting seeds and solidifying their leftist future.

Laws are a reflection of the attitudes of the populace. Popular support for AWBs has been dropping nationally for years. The last year of lockdowns and riots has shocked folks, and demand for all sorts of guns is very high.

Back in 2013, during senate hearings post Sandy Hook for a proposed national AWB, Lindsey Graham was on TV saying that he had an AR15 in case of riots and it was national news...

After months of contentious arguments on the grounds of the Virginia State Capitol, on city council daises and in campaign speeches, a slate of new state gun control laws is set to take effect Wednesday. The topic of gun control dominated…

Its definitely not getting better outside of CA.

If, relative to overturning laws on the books, you think slow is synonymous with not going to happen then yes, it is very slow.

OTOH, from the NRA's updates, just for *today* only:

Yesterday, the House Criminal Justice Committee advanced House Bill 786. It now goes to a House Finance Subcommittee for further consideration. In addition, the Senate Finance Committee will hear Senate Bill 765 on Tuesday, March 16th.

Today, the House passed House Bill 134 by a vote of 72-44. The bill expands the ability of citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones while attending religious worship. This is similar to the Senate Bill 43 that the Senate recently passed.

Today, a subcommittee of the House Judiciary Committee will hear House Bill 3096, The South Carolina Constitutional Carry Act of 2021.

If you want the most accurate picture, I'd guess that you'd need to draw up a list of everything progun and everything antigun at the national, state, and city level and compare. After all, saying that things are generally moving progun doesn't mean that antigunners are stopping their efforts, or that antigun legislation won't happen, because obviously neither of those things are true.

This article is a good read. It is an interview with Rep Andrew Clyde (R, Georgia) about ideas to help restore our 2A rights.

Georgia GOP Rep. Andrew Clyde brings to Congress a deep understanding of federal firearms laws, as a licensed gun store owner for the last 30 years.

When will our 2A rights be restored?

In my opinion the only logical answer to this question is never.
The anti-gun advocates have been working tirelessly for decades to get where they are now. Even if the political and social climate miraculously reversed (which will never happen) it would still take many, many years to undo what the anti-gun movement has done.
As I've mentioned a few times before, conservatives are gradually dying off and are being replaced by young programmed liberal progressives. This trend will not change so don't expect any help from them.

The best hope for any significant changes rests with the Supreme Court. It very much remains to be seen if the recent additions of Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, and Barrett will yield positive results.

                    May God save our Republic.

If the upcoming cases don't go our way here in CA I'm not wasting any more money donating to pro gun groups. We are in the right with the constitution behind us. If that isn't enough it is all lost. Stockpiling and guns lost in a boating accident will get me to the end of life. I decided years ago that I would not bring children in to this mess and forgive my selfishness but I don't really care what happens when I'm gone.

Even if I could live longer, why would I want to?

In California? Never. It will only go from bad to worse. Either move to a red state or accept increasing restrictions. 20 years of "stand and fight" has led to defeat after defeat. The anti-gun Democrats have had firm control of California government for decades and there is no sign that is going to change in anyone's lifetime.

Some blue states will also get worse. There might be some additional restrictions at the federal level given the fact the Democrats control the White House and Congress, for now.

In red states things are good and and in some states are even getting better.

When the NRA decides to use its membership and money to take control of the House and Senate - then win back the white house it can happen. Since the left is going to take more rights away in the next 21 months I sure hope gun owners get with this program and make it right before they are gone forever.

Republicans controlled the White House and both houses of Congress from 2003 to 2007 and again from 2017 to 2019. Did things get better in California during those years? No, they did not. Even at the federal level the only good thing that happened in terms of legislation during those years was the expiration of the 1994 "assault weapon" ban. In the courts the Heller and McDonald cases were wins but there were several losses in the lower courts. Conceal carry reciprocity and taking suppressors off of the NFA list went nowhere during Republican control of the White House and Congress. Bump stocks were banned while Republicans controlled the White House and Congress.

The best that can be hoped for if Republicans control both Congress and the White House is no new gun control laws will be passed. But there will be no improvement of gun rights in California even if Republicans control Congress and the White House.
