Have gun stores returned to normal

I'm too old to wait in lines and all that other BS. Other than lack of stock issues have gun stores returned to normal? In other words, can I walk in and place an order and then walk in again and pick up what I ordered -- when it eventually does arrive? It seems like forever since I've been in a gun store and when I've driven by there are long lines. But I understand that may be changing.

My buddy said yesterday Bass pro shop had a 20 person line. They would not even let you in to see if they had what you may want to stand in line for. So I would say no, not anywhere near normal.

Canyon Sports had some run of the mill 9mm ammo for $50.00 per box. Seems a bit high , but not as bad as Kittles in Colusa with basic black box Blazer 9mm for $89.00 per box.

Yesterday at the store I went to to take my CCW class the line was long 40 plus but that was only for ammo. If you were there for anything else you could just walk straight in.

Thanks. I was prepared ammo-wise, but buying new weapons has become painful. I'm just want to stay current and improve my game.

I don't see any lines out here in Texas but the ammo situation is pretty picked over. I'd be in good shape if I had anything chambered in .270, 7mm Rem, .257 Roberts, etc. Hard to find 9mm, .38spl, .45 acp, .223/5.56, .308/7.62, etc.

Decent supply of rifles, shotguns and handguns in most places and the prices aren't any higher than pre-pandemic unless you want an AR or AK; then there's been a bit of a bump.

My local store is getting stock back on the shelves but limited ammo, no powder or primers and no special orders. They will accept a gun shipped to them for $25. They have fairly good stock of SW semi auto pistols, Kimber, Springfield Armory, and Sig (7 SIG 210s!). About 10-15 AR type rifles, and hunting stuff. No used firearms to speak of, I'm guessing no one is trading or walking in to sell outright.

I walked into Turners Outdoorsman on Friday and filled my cart with $12/box Bronze 9mm, $18/box WWB .45 ACP, and then some $36/box Barnes VOR-TX .30-06, and added $18/box Bulk 22LR. Since I was there anyway, I browsed the gun case, saw a nice Kimber Gold Match 45 ACP for $125 below list so I did the paperwork and started the 10 day waiting period.......and then......



....I woke up from the dream.

It will get better, believe me. Hang on to your cash now, spank yourself if you were not prepared and vow to never be unprepared again, and save your money to buy once things return to normal so you can get more for your money.

That was not my recent experience at Kittles. Not old retail prices to be sure, but certainly not .89/round.

Then again, maybe I get a discount for buying so much 'Tuff Stuff' beef jerky?

Blazer Black Box 9mm contains 500 rounds ! That is a great deal.

Most LGSs are small places, as I'm sure you know. They are limiting how many customers can be in the store. This creates lines outside with 6' distancing. After 30-60 min if you are lucky you get to go in and look at the dust on the mostly empty shelves. Maybe buy an old consignment 30-06 rifle. That's CA.

I happened to be in TX recently, there they will let you in, not as long of a line, but inventory is minimal.

Stores have not come back to being consider normal. Inventory on guns are still low and ammo is hard to come by.

I recently purchased a firearm online through Sportsmans for the first time. Went in store last Friday to do paperwork. Got there 30 mins before opening and there was a huge line already outside. There was 4 people in front of me for firearm pickup. Took 3 hours before it was my turn and another hour to complete paperwork...

They did have a decent long gun selection on hand, but only 4 handguns. Another plus is they did have ammo at decent prices, but 2 box limit per firearm type.

Normal to me is the same as it is for COVID...
Like it was in 2019. New normal is unacceptable.
