What is so dumb is "cold tracer" is not "legal " here. It's still using a chemical illumination from what I understand. Really dumb but welcome to Kalifornia

Tracer ammo meets CA's definition of a "destructive device" [PC 16460(a)]; which makes it illegal to import, make, advertise for sale, transfer, or possess in CA for non-exempt persons [PC 18735].

there are companies that sell a glow stick tracer ammo... the firing breaks and activates the glow

they are CA Legal as nothing burns downrange...

If one got into a gunfight in a dark parking garage and they saw their bullets flying.... they might realize they are not on the front sight

You don't see the bullet hit the target- because your focus is on the sight....
you should not see the glow and your focus should be on the sights

All that matters is if the kali law bans "tracer ammo". Does it say "burning tracer"? If not, the cold tracer is probably still illegal.

The Streak cold tracer I've seen has kept up with ordinary ammo prices, somewhere around a buck-fitty per round.

Unfortunately, as I was hemming and hawing, it went out of stock and I was only able to get 200 rounds

Purely academic but typically you are not going to be firing off a whole magazine of tracers, 1:3, 1:5 etc. Price is less of a factor in that case.

ETA: I suppose it all depends on what you are shooting and your preference but I believe the typical standard is 1:4.

Well, at least armor piercing black tip is still legal in Ca. ... for rifles only.

That is for full auto weapons, right? Is the ratio the same for a 3-round burst?

Wonder what is the optimal ratio if using a binary trigger? 1:2?
