Perspective on ammo shortage

The most important item on the list is missing - the interruption of the low-level supply chains (raw materials). Companies cannot ramp up production when they cannot get the materials they need for production. That's why there was a shortage of everything, from jet skis to ammo.sigpicNRA Benefactor MemberComment

Here's a tip for situations like this in the future.
When I was basically a kid, right out of law school, 1990, there was a tremendous push, much like Biden is slurring about now, to ban "assault weapons" and "high capacity clips". I was working for good money and single at the time, so I started buying firearms, anything that seemed to be on the chopping block. Then as it really started to happen, I turned to magazines, buying as many mags as I could secure. I bought M1A magazines in the 1990s and didn't have an M1A until well after 2005.
Then I turned to loading. I scored a dillon, and started methodically buying for it. I bought toolheads and dies, one at a time, until I had toolheads for everything I own except shotguns and rimfire.
Then, EVERY payday, I would go into OC Reloading and buy 1000 primers and a box of projectiles. every couple months I would buy powder. And any time ANYONE said "want some brass?", or someone was selling it cheap, I picked up brass.
When the ammo law changes were on the horizon, I started laying in things I could not reload, like rimfire. I did NOT spend a lot of money at a time, but I jumped on anything less than .05/rd and soon I had 20,000 rounds of rimfire. But I bought it a little at a time.
Fold in freedom week, and although I already had standard mags, I picked a few, like AR mags and Glock 19 and 32 rounders, and stocked up again.
If/when it returns to normal, do likewise. Budget primers, or whatever, every paycheck, buy primers every paycheck, until it's time to buy something else.
Don't try to score the pallet of 7.62 from the good old days. But chip away and soon you will be set for many moons.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Yep, I agree with that. That's included in the "lower supply due to covid".The most important item on the list is missing - the interruption of the low-level supply chains (raw materials). Companies cannot ramp up production when they cannot get the materials they need for production. That's why there was a shortage of everything, from jet skis to ammo.

While I think the panic buying will subside at some point in the next year or so, I highly doubt see prices come back to the lows of 2018-2019.
I wouldn't be surprised to see 30 cpr for 9mm and 50 cpr for 223 become the new normal once supply meets demand.
Though I'm curious what the current price spike of copper will have on ammo supply and pricing.Comment

"I am certain that our new President will take reasonable positions and enact nothing more than common sense guidelines for our 'Well Regulated' rights"Unfortunately, you have it completely backwards. If people actually followed our honorable President’s sane advice, there would be no ammo shortage at all. A double barrel shotgun and a box of shells provides more than enough firepower for home defense.
The day that Trump supporting goon in the suspenders tried to smear Mr. Biden on his steadfast support for the second amendment, the soon to be POTUS put him in his place. It was that moment he had my full support. I won’t fall for the Obama panic buying spree again. I think NRA shills were drumming up phony fears of confiscation under Mr. Obama, and it just never happened. I am certain that our new President will take reasonable positions and enact nothing more than common sense guidelines for our “Well Regulated” rights.
Frankly, my outlook under a Biden administration has never been brighter. We are all on the cusp of the next great American awakening.
Well regulated rights? That is your position? Reading comprehension is not your strong suit.
That's Kookoo. Perhaps you should start with some truth. Why don't you change your forum signature to "Proud Democrat and Biden Supporter". Then at least everyone would know what a BIG 2A supporter you are.
But, I bet you don't have THE COURAGE OF YOUR CONVICTIONS. If you are so sure you are right, tell everyone, in every post. Or, are you just a closet Biden supporter? Maybe a little afraid that your position won't be popular here.
C'mon man be honest. You think the Government should be able to tell us what type of gun we can have, how we buy our guns and ammo, how often we can buy guns and ammo, and that we need to obtain a license to own a gun. Oh, and you must be a supporter of Federal registration too? Those are all things corrupt Joe wants, you must agree with him. Right?
You are entitled to be ignorant, but it appears you haven't read Mr. Dementia In Chief's position paper on gun control. Yet you are defending it and him.
Go read the paper, and then come back and explain how Biden's gun positions represent, "steadfast support for the second amendment". (your quote)
Somehow you seem believe that brilliant Joe Biden should go against the Constitution and millions of Americans to tell us what the appropriate weapon to use to protect our homes and families. Yet, you claim to be a 2A supporter? Its obvious you are nothing, if not an uninformed leftist tool.
And you don't appear to know history. The Second Amendment is about defending our freedoms from those that would oppress the people and impose tyranny. It not just about defending your home from a break-in.
You and your type are buffoons who think they can speak for everyone. No wonder you are a Democrat, your undisguised authoritarian nature IS the M.O. of the tyrannical left.
So what is your definition of the right of the people under the Second Amendment? Clearly you agree with Joe and his radical gun control plan. Maybe you should try reading it, and then come back and tell what an HONORABLE American he is. AND how Joe is going to save the 2nd Amendment.
I also, find it funny that you latch on to the moronic advice of Biden to get a shot gun, either shoot people in the leg, or go out your back door to shoot into the sky to scare a threat away.
If we don't end up with ruinous gun control, it won't be because Biden and his pals won't try hard. It'll be because there are Democrats in reasonable States and Districts that want to be re-elected and they know that Joe's radical gun control will lose them the election. Same reason Obummer couldn't execute on gun control.
The moderate Dims are surfing the wave of Marxism that is driving the Dim party. And make no mistake the Democrat party is pushing for very radical change. Biden is simply a puppet and you are another tool.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment

Before the pandemic ammo was dirt cheap. I stopped reloading g cause it was not much more to buy it ready made.
Wait till they retire Biden in two years and Harris takes over. Pelosi will be VP.....You’ll see ammo prices that will make your butthole tie your shoes
