Who's going to pay for the mistake?
    IF the Ammo company's mistake,
Have them cut you a deal or replace it with the right caliber.

    IF your mistake?
Buying another rifle and more 9mm is a costly mistake, but has it's up side.

You're already heavily invested in 9mm so stick with it and trade that rifle ammo for 9mm.

Buy an ak. I was tempted to do the same since x39 ammo is somewhat reasonably priced, all things considered...

Trade some for 9mm. You can probably get a better rate than simply selling and rebuying 9mm.

Sounds like a classic case of "spend money to save money".
If you always wanted a rifle chambered in 7.62, I'd buy the rifle, but if you're buying because you're stuck with the ammo, I wouldn't buy it. I would trade it for 9mm.

Trade some of the ammo for 9 mil. I would go off price rather than amount fir fairness. What you paid is inconsequential to trade value. Keep the leftover ammo and go buy a SKS. Those are great beginner guns. Forget the AK and all that. Out of all my semi auto rifles the 8ne I would want back is my old SKS. And everyone should have a rifle in the house.
Good luck man. You’ll be able to sell the ammo really easily. I stacked up a bunch of ammo from guns I no longer have and I had no issue selling any of it.

You can sell the ammo and buy a small amount of 9mm. Then when ammo is cheaper, buy a lot more 9mm.

There is no limit on how much you can buy or sell in a month.
BEFORE the current law went into effect, there WAS a temporary 500 round per month exemption to the requirement to transfer through a dealer, but that exemption is gone.
Now, you need to go through a dealer to transfer even 1 round of ammo, but you can also transfer 100,000,000 rounds on the same $1 background check.

I attempted to buy bulk 1000 round 9mm ammo - by mistake 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 was shipped by mistake.
Who’s mistake, yours or the vendor?

I’d want that order made right if it was them.

                      I am low on rounds.

I attempted to buy bulk 1000 round 9mm ammo - by mistake 1000 rounds of 7.62x39 was shipped by mistake.

So finding ammo fairly scarce, I decided it would be easier to just buy a rifle chambered in 7.62 x 39 and planned on ZASTAVA ZPAP M70 - but there are now none to be found.

                      What would you do?

Would you trade the 7.62ammo for 9mm?
Would you sell the 7.62 and try to buy 9mm?
Would you get a bolt action CZ 527 or American Rugar or something else?

Objective: family self-defense in a no law situation.

My only firearm was my duty weapon M9 last fired in Iraq in 2004 - so I don't have much in the way of firearms knowledge.

I advice you trade some 7.62 ammo for 9mm ammo. I don't advise selling off all the 7.62 ammo, the price for ammo is crazy lately.

If you get the Ruger american ranch you can get a magwell for mini 30 mags or AR patterned mags. It's a nice little rifle.

I'm not affiliated with the seller. Polish Radom's are good rifles, however you might want to search around online to get an idea on the normal price range for these rifles.

As mentioned above, Atlantic Firearms is probably the best online source for AK's (and brands) and KVAR isn't bad too.
That is a Polish Radom AK, but not FB Radom AK. Big difference.
