I'm hoping for good things from this. Better to have been bought by another firearms company than someone who will pilfer and destroy them...looking at your big green.

not surprising as most of these old companies rarely innovates and the space is so competitive

All the DW fanbois be happy. Hopefully their quality and service will be better than my Dan Wesson. They straight milled the feedramp wrong, slide stops are built out of spec (both the original one and the replacement they sent are out of spec) and then failed to admit their mistake after I sent photos, a letter, and the piece in for repair/replacement.

That's cool. It's nice to keep the iconic brand alive.

Corporate greed. Plain and simple. They weren't run by people who were interested in history, heritage or even passion in firearms. They were corporate raiders who were only interested in equity and flipping the company for a quick profit. Then, taking that profit to do the same elsewhere, over and over, richer and richer. The Colt brand is likely in better hands now, than ever.

CZ also owns Dan Wesson, so there is some real positive - quality things we can hopefully expect to come out of Colt in the future!

I would say individual greed. Individuals who run the company probably have massive stock options that vest upon change in control. People get rich quick with stocks.

At least it’s not like Winchester where there’s nothing left of the company but a name to be sold.

So, anyone wanna buy a pre-CZ unfired Commander for the bargain price of $5000? It's pre CZ so it's worth it right?

I'm just glad a company bought them that's willing to bring them out of the 90's.

The commercial side of Colt has been poorly managed for almost three decades, they pretty much gave up on innovating before the 21st century even started, and it's gotten to the point where so many other companies can provide a similar if not superior product (Single-Action Army/1911/AR-15) for less money that it's frankly sad that the sales pitch I had to listen to from Colt for the longest time was "Well, sure the competition makes a good gun, but its not a COLT gun."

The Italian's have proven they can beat them at making a better SAA for less, a multitude of name brand companies both foreign and domestic provide similar or better 1911's for less money than a Colt 1911, and frankly it boggles my mind a barebones M4 style AR-15 sold by Colt sells for a third more the price of a similar AR by almost any other company.

I just hope CZ can turn it around and make it so that I am actually willing to think about buying a Colt that's not a C&R gun.

Colt was a good gun but I think what killed them were the price point. There was nothing really innovative being done they were just selling a name imho. And they were selling at ridiculous prices.

A good gun can be made without bending over the buyer(s) by any company.
