I think that the deal was not finalized until a few days ago. If they can increase the quality to match CZs and Dan Wessons this will be a good thing. My CZs are definitely better quality than my recent production Colt 1911's. I have a Gold Cup that I bought 2 years ago and though it is a good gun the slide to frame fit is not very tight. Springfields are tighter.

      A Czython?

Seems like just yesterday Colt was having Astra make pistols in Spain and putting their name on them just to be competitive in the inexpensive (foreign) gun category.

      Time flies away

      , just like American companies.

            CZ Buys Colt

Deal is for about $220 Million in Cash, and about another $19 Million in CZ stock.

I LOVE CZ, LOVE LOVE LOVE CZ... but that's another American Iconic Company falling to foreign acquisition. Very interesting times...

Huh, never realized how little Colt was worth as a company.

Absolutely. Move them to Idaho or Wyoming.

They are now, the article states they went public in October of last year.

It's deceiving, because we're accustomed to hearing about this absurd over-valuations of wiz-bang silicon valley companies.

$220 Million is indeed a lot of money.

Makes you wonder how some startup that literally loses billions a year can have a valuation of $65 Billion+ when real companies that make real products that people pay real money for are valued so, so little... but ya, I digress...

Meh, these companies are all multi-national and CZ has quite a bit of USA presence. Also, the Colt that is being acquired if a far cry from the "iconic Colt" of years past. I'd say it's all good...

Positives I see: CZ has a revolver division that turns out excellent guns. They aren't afraid to have expensive variants either. We might actually see a high end Python. And,maybe, just maybe, they will bring the SAA out of the stratosphere price wise to compete with the Italians who are killing them in sales.

This cannot be nothing but good news for us. It is sad that Colt is no longer American Owned, but the American owners managed to bankrupt the company during a decade that saw huge increases in firearm sales. So the owners did not care for long term profits only short term gains.
