I admit, in a manner of joking even lower than puns, that I rib left-handed people sometimes for their leftist tendencies. I think those jokes rank along with potty humor (the best kind)

I am amused at how the new regime is getting started. I hope they f things up so much and so fast that they are rejected by their traditional supporters. The theory being that the frogs jump the pot if they are heated up too fast.

Reply 2: I absolutely agree with you. I feel the same. I hope they screw things up, destroy the economy and civil rights and whatever so drastically that there is a revolt. If they do it slowly, we will turn into Sweden. It is already happening. It is taking multiple generations to change. More indoctrination is laid on each generation, just enough to stay under the limit of tolerance.

But Biden-Kamel went full commie. I think they are going to overdo it. I hope they will. Even if they don't if they keep cheating and electing commies it will get so bad that there will be a revolt. A revolution. It might happen in our lifetime. History has proven that it will happen, it is just a matter of time.

That makes sense, a lot of sense. Far away, chicken wing doesn't make a bit of difference in terms of your safety. Up close, it could make a difference.

If shooting bladed, especially if using a big bore instead of a rat caliber, "chicken wing" makes a pocket for the stock on your shoulder and helps with recoil.

I have to admit I haven't heard that term used to describe a shooting stance. Are you referring to rifle or pistol?
Secondly, how does the chicken community feel about your cultural appropriation?

This is true for me also. When in the Corps back in the late 50's and early 60's firing the M1 and the BAR off hand "chicken wing" as it's called now was standard.

When I carried an M3 carbine/scope/battery pack, you needed to chicken wing for balance. (I hated lugging that carbine IR scope).

A heavier rifle/caliber is more comfortable, at least for me. (We seldom wore "body armor" so gear may dictate too, but not in my time).

Whatever works to get the job done.

                    Respectfully
                    Kyle

Until today I had never heard this term in the shooting community. However, it made me wonder why folks who don't understand something or it seems silly to them come up with a demeaning title for it, i.e.: "Chicken wing", "idiot scratch", etc.
But, I've only been shooting for 50+ years so I'm still learning...

Never go full semi automatic commie.

As to the actual topic, if you have full tactical gear on, the chicken wing will be unnecessary as your shoulder pads will keep the stock in place. So the moral is always wear your tactical gear. Especially at the range. Personally it makes me hot so I only wear it on top, with board shorts and flip-flops on the bottom. Come say hi the next time you see me out there!

Yep, random question, it just popped into my peabrain.
I'm the opposite. I have elbow down by default... when I first started shooting i questioned myself, wondering if I should chicken wing - but it didn't feel natural and seemed counterintuitive for the type of shooting I intended to train for.

I've always have more of a combat stance and tucked elbows. Just seemed intuitive and sensible for me.

But I do agree that many others chicken wing naturally... I dont know what causes it or why I'm an oddball.

Its a common term that isn't new.

Well in his defense, some people discuss guns. Others shoot them.
