AR shooters- which .223 for you ??

If you uplan on reloading any time in the future, and you probably will, you might want to consider a brand that doesn't crimp the primers. I know American Eagle does and the mil-spec (for lack of a better term) does. I don't know about PMC, however. I've removed the primer crimps from a lot of Lake City brass (American Eagle) over the years and it's an extra step in the reloading process (only needs to be done once) and is a major PITA. For me, at least. The quality of Lake City brass is very good, however. Just like everything else, there are trade offs.

I forgot to ask about Fiocchi and it's interesting no one else has either. Aside from being more expensive [ 31.00+ for a 50rnd box], how does Fiocchi 223 compare to the PMC Bronze/ American Eagle / XM193 55gr debate ?

From the consensus so far it would appear that PMC Bronze gets the nod for best value/ bang for your buck in 55gr 223 ammo.

Fiocchi can be had for a lot cheaper than that, just a few weeks ago Palmetto State armory had it for $400 per 1000, or $20 per 50. And I think the best value right now is the Centurion, it can be had for less than 400 delivered to your door.

The real answer is that the differences between cheap 55gr FMJ ammo aren't enough to constitute paying a cent more for one over the other... with one exception.

If you're planning to store or save for SHTF, it's better to use XM193 or M193 clones, as they're sealed for moisture.

If you'll be shooting any sooner than the next 3 years, buy CHEAP.

PS - this only applies to new ammo. Reloads vary WIDELY.
