    AR shooters- which .223 for you ??

    Guys,
    I'm about to make my first bulk 223 ammo purchase[ bulk for me is anything over 300rnds ] and I wanted to run something by the small and tiny smattering of AR shooters here [ ] ;
    I want some clean burning FMJ military ball 55gr or 62gr ammo for shooting at the range. My rifle seems to digest just about anything so that isn't a consideration. That said, which of the .223 ammo types below do you guys prefer, assuming all of them are generally in the same price range;
    - PMC Bronze
    - American Eagle
    -XM193
    I haven't actually found any yet but wanted to get a sense if ayoen feels there's an appreciable quality or performance difference ?

    Go for XM193 1st, American Eagle 2nd, then PMC bronze.

    Although the real answer is whichever is the best deal that you come across. They are all really pretty similar. Save your brass.

      Jason-
      Just what I wanted to know and as I suspected. Are any of the aforementioned any cleaner buring than the other ? What makes XM193 your first choice ?

        Why do folks still bewilder themselves with the Dirty Ammo and AR's Myth?

        It all shoots good....if you want to get technical about clean shooting ammo
        though, the old Phillipine Surplus that roamed the earth in the 80's was the
        cleanest.

          You're right and point taken. That still leaves the question, which of the above 223 ammos have the edge and why ?
          Or maybe none really have a practical edge ?

          Or how about this,

            The XM193 would be first choice, good reloadable sturdy Mil-Spec brass for
            reloading.

              Sorry, but I dont know why people like clean burning ammo. Some reason, they dont matter to me. As long asit shoots streight and accurate, Im up for it. That extra patch isnt whats going to make the winner, the 10x is....but again, if its just for plinking...i guess clean burning does matter?

                i really like my prvi 62gr 5.56 nato rounds. at 50yrds with my aimpoint, i shot about a 4" group with 55gr M193 and then shot a 2" group with 62gr prvi

                but i also shoot ammo bros reloads. whatever is cheaper i buy, unless its a real good deal

                        I've really only used PMC so far as a new shooter and find it to be great and I "think" the cheapest of them. Good ammo, tight groups, I like it. I've shot about 700 rounds since I got my AR less than a month ago I think. All I have left now is 600 rounds of PPM193 Prvi Partizan, need money for more!

                              Georgia Arms .223 canned heat reloads *suck*.

                              I've had a round fail to chamber twice (out of about 30 rounds)....and both of those times, the *#(&%&# bullet got stuck in the chamber, so that the round came apart during eject. Yes....gun powder flew everywhere. It sucked.
