Ruger will take a while to get good build quality, but I think they will get there in a few years. Get a Henry and be happy.

Just picked up a 1994 1894c 357 for $650 at my LGS. I was doing a PPT and just asked them if they had one in stock... They looked around the shop and found one. Added it to my existing DROS! They had several 30-30 lever actions.

I've got a 1895 in 45-70 govt I bought at Marin gun show in the early or mid 1990s that I'm willing to sell.

Last year I snagged an 1894 cowboy model in 45 LC because I wanted something with a side gate and ability to attach a rail on top. This was barely a month before I saw the news about the bankruptcy.

Out the door I paid maybe $700. It's never been fired. I can't afford to shoot it right now!

Of the guns I had sold, biggest regret was selling a Marlin 1894 cowboy level action with octagonal barrel. Anyhow, with Ruger owning Marlin it is possible cast aluminum parts will be incorporated into marlin rifles.

Don't give up on getting an 1895 SBL. I was fortunate enough to buy one of the first three that were shipped to CA. All three were JM made and all of them exhibited excellent workmanship and fit and finish. They were all nice enough that I wound up simply picking the one with the nicest grain pattern in the stock.

.45-70 is one of my favorite calibers to load and the SBL has shot well with everything I fed it. It's definitely one of my "keepers" and I wouldn't sell it even if I were offered double what I paid.

I never saw a Remington-made SBL that I thought was anywhere near as nice as the one that I have, so I'm not terribly disappointed that they went out of business. I feel pretty certain that when Ruger spools up production of the SBL that they will likely be much nicer than what Remington was putting out. Hang in there, I think it will be worth the wait!

Nope they don't require masks... And that's the price they quoted! I didn't even try haggle!

When they told me I immediately said hold up processing my DROS... We're adding another one!
