Galloway has a trigger kit for the original hammer fired one you can install yourself that shortens the pull and makes it even better. Makes for a real nice carry gun.

I have the original LC-9. I know that some folks hate the trigger, it's like a DA revolver. To me, for a carry gun, the trigger is fine, the long trigger pull means that an ND is unlikely.
Other than that, it's about the smallest mini 9 available and it's reasonably priced.Comment

we've set up a range trip for tomorrow - gonna rent the LC9s, the Sig P365, along with a few other possible guns they have in their inventorySince OP is in NV, CA roster won't apply I presume....
I had the LC9/380 setup, liked the way the gun looked, felt, and handled... except that trigger, which everyone seems to agree is less than good, and kept me from being able to shoot it accurately, aftermarket trigger upgrades helped a lot, but not enough.... so ultimately I sold it for guns I shot well. Still miss all the good aspects, don't miss the trigger.
I've never gotten hands on the "LC9S" striker fired version, but have heard positives for the striker fired trigger. I'd probably buy one if the price was right just to see if I could shoot it well!
OTOH, depending on the budget, a Sig P365 at free sate prices would be pretty hard to argue with, or perhaps even a P938. Both have SAS versions with those newfangled sights, and given how much I like the P238, a 938 would be a no-brainer in my opinion.
i'll let him try and see what he likes and buy him thatOriginally posted by BarangI! hate! you! FalconLair.

Just sold my hammer fired LC9. It was my go-to summer carry gun because of it's size. It was a good shooter and never had an issue with it. I ended up replacing it with a Glock 43 as I get a little more capacity out of it than the Ruger."If a man hasn't found something worth dying for, he isn't fit to live." - Martin Luther King Jr.

Have LC9S Pro (without the safety). Had an LCS9 but didn't care for the safety and magazine disconnect so traded it in for the Pro model. The LC9S is a nice piece but I prefer the 365. The 365 is a much softer shooter and pocket carries easily with a Sticky holster. LCS9 is a thinner profile and the trigger is good. Suggest you/he shoot or handle them side-by-side before making a decision. Like my LCS9S Pro but it sits in the safe while the 365 is EDC for me and the wife.NRA Lifetime MemberComment

The LC9S really does have a great trigger, I mean really good. And it is thin. Those are the two huge pluses. The reason I would go P365 is capacity, also good trigger, also small size and only about 1/8" thicker, factory night sights, grip has better ergonomics. And it is way easier to get rid of a P365 here if you don't like it, for at least $double what you'd get for a LC9S ProLast edited by SkyHawk; 01-11-2021, 11:11 AM.Comment

I've never handled a LC9S. I like most everything about the LC9. I don't mind the DA trigger pull. I cut my teeth on a Ruger P89 and got used to that first long pull. It was the reset on the LC9 I hated.
I didn't care much for the 365, it just didn't fit me hand right. Maybe the XL would be better. I actually liked the Hellcat better. I haven't shot either one though.
As for 238 vs 938. I like my 238 a lot but I love my 938. If you like the 238 you'll like the 938 more. I paid the regular pre cough premium for 938 Legion and I couldn't be happier. I've things calm down consider picking one up.Comment

spent some time at the range today, he shot several medium sized firearms, really liked the P365 then shot the P365 SAS and was super impressed with it - it has a FT Bullseye sight, which i thought was kind of cool too
didn't like the fact that it has a ported slide though, who needs a ported slide for a conceal carry gun?
fortunately, did some research and found out they also have a non ported model SAS - looked around and Sportsmans Outdoor has the non ported P365 SAS so i ordered it this evening for him
might be a week or so, of course nobody locally had it, we've got a shortage of guns out here too
he didn't care much for the ported slide eitherOriginally posted by BarangI! hate! you! FalconLair.

we picked up my sons P365 SAS from the FFL today - got it in pretty quick
i think im gonna get myself one, i really like it - the sights are built in to the slide, there's really nothing to snag when pulling from the holster
from the photos you can see just how good it sights in too, very clear and i believe they are even better at night
