Any Ruger LC9s owners??

my son wants one - he went shooting with a friend and tried out his buddies LC9s and said he really liked the trigger and feel for the gun

currently he uses a Kahr CM9, and a FNS 9c and MY Beretta Storm, for his conceal carry guns - his birthday is next month and im thinking about surprising him with one but i personally don't know much about the pro's and con's with it versus what he already has or, maybe in comparison to a Shield or a Sig 365

the fact he only shot it a few rounds is hard to really know about the gun

anyone out there who carries one or shoots one enough to chime in?

also, how would you compare it against other compacts in the market, hell, maybe i'll get one for myself too if the reviews are good enough

also, is the LC9 better - i know there are some differences, striker fire versus hammer - he actually likes hammer fired guns too

The LC9S had a good trigger but honestly I would go for the Sig P365. I had at least three LC9 versions including original hammer fired, LC9S and LC9 Pro. Sold them all. The hammer fired gun is good if you want to naked pocket carry and I know some LEO who did exactly that off duty, otherwise I don't why you would want it.

Yeah, I’d definitely take a Sig p365 over it, but the Sigs are $1500+. The LC9 is still a $500 gun even now.

OP lives out of state and can get the P365 for ~$500 I am guessing.

i was halfway thinking of buying myself a p365, going to the range and let him shoot it and if he likes it give it to him or buy another one for him (i wouldn't mind having my own )

btw, i naked pocket all the time i even have a special coat just for it lol

I overspent to get my hands on one. Bought an LC380 in stock (Bass Pro) and got an LC9 conversion kit. Blew over $800, but can shoot two calibers.

That little gun is hard to beat for CC second only in size to the Khar series IMHO. I've argued with people dead set on the single stack Glocks that the LC9 is a better buy.

I have the original hammer fired LC9. I like it. The trigger has a long pull, but I pocket carry it almost every day, so I like the added safety factor. The striker fired version doesn't have that benefit. It's a very flat gun, and easy to pocket carry. I think it's a great all around 9mm pocket gun. A double stack P365 or similar may be a good gun, but not as flat as the Ruger, so it would be less appropriate for pocket carry. It's all about your intended use.

In California the LC9 was on roster for a while. The LC9s was never on roster.

For the amount of money the LC9s costs, I would look at a shield or something else for sale in this state.

LC9/ LC9s is a $275 gun in free states before the current panic. Iv’e seen the LC9s for $750 in ca pre panic price.

I had an LC9, but did not like the trigger pull on it. I tried to change it with a trigger kit, but it didn't work well. I sold it and got the LC9s and like it much better.

I have a LC9. It's a long DA pull trigger with a not so great reset.

Got it for my mom but she didn't like the trigger and had trouble racking it.

I had the LC9/380 setup, liked the way the gun looked, felt, and handled... except that trigger, which everyone seems to agree is less than good, and kept me from being able to shoot it accurately, aftermarket trigger upgrades helped a lot, but not enough.... so ultimately I sold it for guns I shot well. Still miss all the good aspects, don't miss the trigger.

I've never gotten hands on the "LC9S" striker fired version, but have heard positives for the striker fired trigger. I'd probably buy one if the price was right just to see if I could shoot it well!

OTOH, depending on the budget, a Sig P365 at free sate prices would be pretty hard to argue with, or perhaps even a P938. Both have SAS versions with those newfangled sights, and given how much I like the P238, a 938 would be a no-brainer in my opinion.

LCPs Pro

Excellent trigger. Reliable 9MM.

Being a Pro model it has no thumb safety and no trigger disconnect with the magazine removed.

I wouldn’t pocket carry without this kydex trigger cover.

As a carry gun I think form factor and ergonomics play a larger role than for a range gun. Both of these can only be gauged through fondling, which he has. After a day of carrying a Steyr S9 (comparable to a G19), I switched to the LC9. Before the end of that day I forgot I even had it on. I later upgraded to the LC9s (thanks again Bob!).

If he says he wants one, it would be a present well received.
