Trying to buy a gun from another CGer and I'm wondering if anyone has done a PPT at Wimpys.

How did it go?

Alamo pawn is not too far from Wimpys. Alamo is great.
I have used the old Wimpys in the past and they were great
I have not used the current Wimpys and have not heard of any complaints

I agree, Alamo is great and not too far from Wimpys.

I'm just looking for a place off the 210 to make it more convenient for the seller who lives in Glendale.

A couple months ago I tried Alamo and they had a sign up no PPTs.

I used to do tons of PPTs at Wimpy's couple of years ago, but they changed their policies such that they do PPTs only on certain days. I forgot which days.

But once you're inside, they're quick.

I had a very good experience at Turners in Pasadena with a PPT last year.
I was the buyer, in and out in 30 minutes.

Two PPTs at Pasadena Turners and they were both 1 hour minimum each, showed up 15-30 min before opening too both times.

NO!!!! I was looking for a replacement pistol for a friend who had his house broken into a few months ago. Glock 17/19 or XD 9/45. Called these guys and he said he had either a G17 or G19 in stock..I can't remember which because my mind went into a fog when he said they were going for around $1400 ?!?!
You've gotta be kidding!!
ME: Wow..you guys are charging nearly triple from normal prices after fees?
GRT: I guess you could say that...
ME: Ok..thanks.
After I hung up the phone I thought to myself.."I guess you could say that?" No..it's a fact..you are. Now then..I'm all for a free market, capitalism, etc. I see these crazy prices in the Marketplace for Private Party Sales. I get that. But I haven't seen or really heard of any Commercial/Retail gouging like this. Not Turner's, Ammo Bros, Riflegear, etc. F those guys. I'll look elsewhere. I won't ever give those guys $1 of mine on principal alone.
My friend ended up with an XD45 from Turner's for <$700 OTD. **Similar price at Exotic Pistol Grips. Another mom n pops shop in Glendora/Covina off Arrow Hwy. Two really nice guys run this small shop. PPT is by appt only though and they are closed on Mondays if I'm not mistaken. They took over a donut shop and turned it into a gun shop. They kept the donut display cases and use them to show all the grip options they have. A bunch for 1911s..but other pistols as well.

YES!!!! This guy has a really small shop. I mean really small. Literally nothing for sale on the shelves. A few pistols and a long gun or two. But I think he also does smith-work. And he'll order anything and transfer in whatever you want that you legally can. He doesn't gouge for out of state ammo purchases either. I think it's $10 regardless of quantity under 10K rounds if I'm not mistaken. Sold a buddy a G23 and we were in and out of there in about 10mins. My buddy has since gone back there to transfer guns in from Bud's and PSA and has been happy with how everything went. He does have weird hours so email him and he'll get back to you fairly quick. I think the shop is his side-gig.

Another member told me about Golden State. The seller likes the location and time they're open. He's going to check with them on their PPT policies and see if we can get in there tomorrow.
