    Brass catchers

Thinking of shooting an AR at in indoor range this week and im thinking ahead because I know it likes to eject to my 3 o clock and I dont believe the range allows retrieval of brass over the firing line. I dont like the idea of adding stuff to the AR but this makes practical sense of indoor ranges like this so im asking if any of you recommend one in particular. I personally want the smallest possible netting since i wont mind dumping out the netting after each mag.

This is the smallest i found about 5"

I use Caldwell version of that and it does leave a little be desired but works. It needs emptied often but is easy with the zipper at the bottom. For $12 give it a go.

I use the Caldwell also. I wrapped the metal part with painters tape so it doesn't scratch my upper.
It works ok for catching the brass. I wouldn't use it for any run and gun shooting but at indoor or bench style shooting it gets the job done.

Mine just seems to cause jams. I wish I could find one that worked. I really need it.

I also have been considering getting a brass catcher. Which one do you have, so that I can avoid buying it.

I use both the Caldwell brass catcher that attaches to the picatinny rail and the Caldwell that looks like the one you have picture. Both do a great job and will not scratch your rifle.

That's very generous of you but with the cost of shipping itll end up just being a dollar less. Itd be best for you to hold on to it and offer to a gun buddy or new shooter that's local and could use one. Appreciate it tho!

If you have several uppers, then the velcro attachment scheme might be less of a hassle than the rail mounted versions.

The velcro one works but you have to wrap it very tightly. After maybe 50 or 60 it will sag and might cause a jam or let some brass out. The pic rail one works better if you shoot a lot and forget to empty, plus it doesn't sag blocking the eject port. Extra pic rail attachments are sold by 3rd party for cheaper on ebay and amazon.

I tried the Caldwell. This one from 3BUCC Inc. is substantially better, and well worth the increased price: https://www.brownells.com/shooting-a...-prod1541.aspx

I threw away my Caldwell and now have three of these 3BUCC Brass-Savrs (two flat top and one carry handle).

I also use a Caldwell. Works well on featureless AR's, but had issues with jams on mag locked rifles loaded through the ejection port.

I use the Cadwell picatinny rail mounted one. I use it on multiple AR's.
The biggest issue I have is remembering to put it on.
