OP, read up on the roster. With a few exceptions any handgun you buy from a dealer or shipped to a dealer must be on the roster of approved handguns. Exemptions are LEO purchasers, private party transfers in person at the FFL dealer, consignment sales, most single action revolvers, and curio and relic handguns.

Private party off roster sales are often double the MSRP.

Has absolutely nothing to do with that. Been there done that.

It's Californians thinking they own some gem (some off roster which means absolutely nothing) and since they got screwed over they try to pass that bull**** to another Californian. That's not cool.

Every gun owner that lives outside of California knows that Californians charge way to much for firearms and ammo. This has been known for 10+ years.

Sometimes these cats want double the price of a firearm. Thats pathetic regardless if that's the going price in California.

        OP:
Look at free state prices to get the real and true worth of firearms before you waste your money on overpriced mutilated firearms in the liberal state of California.
        Good luck.

Just for a small price reference for recent back in the day's pricing (some other shops can do better), Turner's 2019 fall flyer: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1551064
The CZ SP-01 was listed at $729.99 with a sale price of $679.98, in the flyer. They just got a batch a last month and sold out at $869.99: https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/....php?t=1668715

Good luck on ammo too ='[.

          Have fun .

Hi, if you don’t look down on the polymer guns, you can get a 2yr gssf membership, and order a Glock at blue label pricing (eg $500 for G34). It’s the surest way to get a good starter pistol for pre covid prices

You can also ball out and get a semi custom 2011. You will have to wait and it will cost a lot but you’d pay pretty close to msrp

I don't know how long this will go on for, and there is no telling if prices would ever get back to pre-2020 level. In any case, depending on where you are in the state, it wasn't unusual to find CZ75B for less than or right around $600 a year or two ago.

100-200 price Covid mark up on top of msrp. At least that’s what I have been noticing in the Bay Area

Buy it before it’s gone. If you think the gun price isn’t normal, wait until you shop for ammo.

                      +1 on that.
Pre pandemic and shortage days, a CZ75b was going for $599 (give or take $40) in most stores.

I'm surprised that a new guy with 2 posts is not seeking a G19. That has been the solid trend since, forever.
