    Anyone else halted recreational shooting?

So has anyone else halted recreational shooting? At $12- $15 bucks (and even more) to fill a magazine, it's not so fun anymore. I may shoot a little to test a new part, but that's about it. So at this point, I'm not shooting any of my stock since every time I pull the trigger I hear the "cha-ching" sound of a cash register instead of the happy burst of a round.

Hopefully, the price gouging of ammo ends someday, we've been there before...

I've definitely slowed down a lot. I do some snap-in drills occasionally to keep muscle memory fresh.

Well I have not really done recreational shooting since "trap" shooting over a decade ago. But I have passed on an opportunity to "practice" as of late because I don't want to replace ammo.

Yes since it makes no sense to throw $$ around with little decent $$ available right now. Only for lining up scopes and sight in before hunting trips which are over for several months to come. I need to someday get the scope sighted in on my recent jump on buy of a Nylon 66 I scored months ago.

yes, I cut back my range time, even though I have ammo, I havent bought any recently, so every range trip burns up my old ammo and it's not getting replaced because of the cost and availability

if you cant replace what you use, it's better to hold back on recreational shooting.

I heard reloading supplies are also running low

I have slowed but not by a lot. I have been shooting more and more .22.

A lot of 22 shooting here too. 10/22 and S&W 17. I did shoot some 44 special cowboy loads yesterday though.

Not shotgun shooting... You can find 8 and 7 1/2 shot everywhere... even Walmart... But the defensive rounds its harder!

Yes, big time. 9mm, 5.56, and 45 ACP are verboten from range use currently. 7.62x39 and 12 gauge are still relatively easy to find at quasi-reasonable prices.

After that brutal 22lr drought a couple years ago, I overcorrected and have more than I could ever hope to shoot at this point.

Still going to matches... About 200~300 rounds per match.

Hhhmmm... Actually, I have been going to more matches the last few months. Twice a month instead of the usual one.

                        Then a class in mid-January.

I need a positive distraction from work and this pandemic.

Off-match practice is with .22LRs or Airsoft.

Switched to 22lr as its still good to refresh skills and training. Dropped in using other calibers down to 100 rds of reloads for 5.56/308/9mm/45 acp, it use to be 300 rds. My trips are still twice a month.

No change. The only thing that might get in the way of practice is weather (rain, etc.) or scheduled events at the range (private outdoor range). Nothing ammo related, I'm set.

Slowed the round count down on Steel Challenge practice and started shooting more 40 SW to supplement the 9mm. This, I hope can keep me shooting until primers return or sub$200/case 9mm returns.
I'd agree with you but then we'd both be wrong...
