Magazines feed the belly of the beast.

With all the ammo in the world you've lost the precious element of time without enough magazines to feed the furnace.

    Play the tape forward.

Don't chop wood only when you realize you're about to lose your fire through the night.

2 or 3 for handguns, I'm not John Wick. Rifles get 4 or 6 per case as those fit in the pockets. Always stuffed and ready to go.

Not sure why people have hundreds of mags for one firearm, but interested to hear what the rationale is. Maybe I'll learn something.
When you could buy surplus G3 mags for 99 cents, you could fill them up, and toss when done, or not worry about loosing a few.

You can only carry so many, especially if you are a larping SHTF type. 4 per firearm is my par as in a chest carrier you cant carry 30 magpuls and be nimble enough to not become a loot pinata for the enemy.

            Nice.

Wait, no suppressors, no SBRs, no registered machine guns? So all California mutilated mag lock ARs? No thanks. Lol

Now the ammo stock is awesome. Keep it up. You're getting there.

And to OP 8-10 loaded magazines per AR will suffice. For handguns 5-8 mags will also suffice.

Anyone that has 100 per gun is more than likely a 21-29 year old kid/ninja. His AR probably weighs 12-15 pounds with all the crap they put on it.

No point in getting bunch of 10 round mags. I'm waiting to get some high capacity mags and drum mags. 3-4 mags per gun seems good enough for me.

Hahaha! Funniest thing I have read or heard all day! I dunno about a hundred mags. I would rather spend some of that money on new guns and ammo. But, as others have said, mags are consumables. One does need some sort of stockpile especially if they are out of production.

If 30 round magazines were available in Kalifornia I could cut my magazine inventory by 2/3.

Yep, this. Basically you need guns, mags and ammo. Lots of one without the other is kinda pointless.

You make a good point.... the car hobby has been more of a drain than shooting will ever be

They really are, and anyone that can recall the prices of high-capacity magazines prior to 1994 (like $10 bucks for a high-cap Glock 17 magazine, maybe $15 to $20 for a Steyr GB18, P7M13, or Walther P88 magazines) and what those became nearly overnight from 1994 to 2004, from $100 to $150, and even now those Steyr GB-18, P7M13, and Walther P88 mag prices are that or more, that's a 10-times profit on investment that rivals the performance of many stocks in that same time frame... let alone, prove there is a capital gain.

If you missed out on pre-1994, or even pre-2000 (if in CA) or the latter opportunity of 'Freedom Week' (if in CA), it's unfortunate, because I truly believe we are going to see a Clinton-style ban on new manufacture and sales to the public of high-capacity magazines (over 10-rounds) at some point in the next 4 years of President(s) - plural intentionally - Biden and Harris.
