So, a while back I had placed an order for a Savage B17 and it got cancelled and I had to look for another. I spent that whole weekend looking for another one with no luck.
On Monday I decided to take another look at Gallery of Guns in the late afternoon. What do you know but one of the Savage B17's they stock came back in stock but was only showing 5 available. I hurried up and placed the order and kept my fingers crossed.
Last week Thursday I finally get notified that the rifle had shipped to my LGS. It said that it should be there by yesterday but since they used FedEx I wasn't going to hold my breath. It did show up yesterday, YAY!
As much as I wanted to call them last night after I got the notification of delivery I decided to just wait and let them call me. They called me about 9:30 this morning and told me that I could come in anytime to start the paperwork.
So, I went in and started the paperwork and as I was filling out the 4473, came to a box that asked for today's date. I said to myself: You know what today's date is, it's Pop's birthday. So I entered the date and made a comment to the clerk about it being Pop's birthday and he said: Oh, cool.
We finish up with all the paperwork and he gives me my copy of the DROS and highlights the day and time that I can pick it up, November 28th. I said: Oh, cool that's Mom's birthday.
I couldn't have planned that if I tried. Pops passed about 2 1/2 years ago and mom just left us in September. I couldn't think of a better way to honor and remember them.
This rifle will never be sold.
