Sounds like Mark Kelly, now a US Senator, admitting to his straw purchase of an AR in 2012 just to "turn it over" to the ATF in a showing of solidarity to gun violence victims.

So 48 guns over 8.5 years is not a lot, but where he went wrong IMO was selling 18 of them within 30 days of acquisition. That stinks of unlicensed gun dealer, to say nothing of abusing his roster exempt privilege.

I wonder if by going afoul of the "more than 5" transactions per year if that put him on the radar.

Slowly agencies and CA are reducing the off roster privilege for LEO. Some area, LEO can only sell to LEO, or to buy off reoster they have to get a department letter. We always encourage calling and writing or state reps when anti-2A legislation comes up. How about starting to put a bug in the ear of legislators to get rid of the exemptions? If enough call and write, maybe someone will at least put forth legislation. It may die in committee but at least it's on the table.
