    Sa/da

I never could get the hang of two actions - I’ve been glock for a decade now. Manual safeties are another Hangup under pressure.

XD 40 has been my nightstand gun for years, reliable and I shoot it well. Get a light for it.

I have an XD9 and I really like it. The fit and finish is really good. It seems to function very well as well. It goes in nicely with all my Glocks. But at the end of the day, I use my FMK 9c1 More than anything else. It's so comfortable in the hand and it functions flawlessly.

Don't want to rain on your parade, but the 92FS feels so much better than the XD. I'm surprised you liked it after shooting the 92FS.

Nonetheless, gun ownership is a journey. More experience with different type of guns the better. I've bought and sold so many guns, that with the money that I spent on the DROS fees, I could have bought 2 handguns.

Not absolute... It will also depend on the design/geometry of the pistol.

For example with 45ACP - Glock 21SF vs HK USP Expert 45... You'd get less of felt recoil impulse with the HK but MORE muzzle flip because of the high bore...

That said, to the @OP - as they say about competition...

Competition is where you find out you're slow, are not accurate, have poor gun handling, and have equipment that doesn't work. Accept it or do something about it!

If ammo was cheaper and more plentiful that would be fun, for sure. I have my own stockpile, but if I got into competing I'm sure I'd deplete that pretty quickly.

IDPA... 150-rds (or less) per match.

                    USPSA... Around 200~250 per match.

Once a month should be good enough to validate your training while having fun at the same time?

In my case, my other boss only allows me one 'firearm-related' activity per month, so...

Was referring to practicing and getting ready/training.

Right now I'm just dry-firing at home and have been to FS twice this year. Heading back for a 2-day skill builder in December once more before the year is over.

I mean hey, variety is the spice of life. It also gives you exposure to multiple firearms platforms so you have enough of a familiarity with them to know how to operate them and hopefully shoot them to an acceptable degree of accuracy.

Circa 1990s when the XD came on board, someone paid half dozen so called big name shooters to use XDs in public.

As soon as the sponsorship money ended they dropped those XDs faster than bad case of covid19.

Sadly I'm not shooting at all these days because ammo was so expensive. And it's not easy to get.
