What do you do with your gun boxes/cases?

Perhaps a silly question, but what do you do with the boxes and cases that came with your firearms? They won't fit in my gun safe. If someone broke into the house, they would probably find the empty boxes/cases as well as gun safe. That means they now know what's in the gun safe. Should I worry about that or not?

Not really. Your safe isn’t going to take more than 5 minutes to open anyway. If they want in and have basic tools they are getting in.

The only boxes I keep...are ones they may be needed to ship to manufacturer if I need warranty or up grade work. So far I have used them...never.

I use my garage rafters to store the boxes. They are great dust catchers!

Unless you life works differently than most, Murphy's Law governs. The one you lose/discard is the one that you'll need to ship for service. I've certainly used mine. Glad I kept 'em.

I save them. Boxes for a number of rifles I own (that are no longer imported) are selling for a lot of money - EMPTY!

Very true, but the safe is for the quick smash and grab against non-professionals. (And not for fire protection. If you're not carrying the needed tools, it will probably take 2+ of you to rip it out of the wall and ground and carry it away.

But a couple of you have said, "just keep the boxes" so I guess I'm doing that. Thanks everyone.

left in plain sight in my closet top shelf loaded with a bag of sand to make it feel like it has a gun in there. locked with a semi expensive lock to make sure that if someone is going to rob the house they get away with bags of dirt thinking they hit the mother load and not tearing down walls to find the the real vault.

My brother passed away a few years back. Going thru his stuff, I found a few guns and ammo, But I never found his Colt Anaconda (I suspect his roommate took it) although I did find the box and sleeve in his storage bin. I put it on EBay and got $150 bucks for it...Always save the boxes.
